Entre les ouragans, les cyclones et les inondations, bon nombre d'habitants se trouvent obligés d'abandonner leur maison. La carte ci-dessous, dénichée sur Fast.co.exist et créée par le Norwegian Refugee Coucil's Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (NRC), compile les data disponibles et montre quels ont été les déplacements de population et pourquoi. On apprend ainsi que 1,9 millions de personnes au Pakistan ont été obligées de quitter leur domicile à cause de la mousson et de ses inondations, quand l'ouragan Sandy a provoqué l'évacuation de 776.000 personnes.
Les pays riches comme les pays pauvres sont touchés par les climats extrêmes mais la gestion des réfugiés climatiques est fonction des moyens. Ainsi, Clare Spurell, porte-parole pour le NRC explique dans un communiqué : Biochemist creates CO2-eating light that runs on algae. Our atmosphere is filling up with CO2 and we seem to be the major cause of that.
The generally accepted solution seems to be cutting back on emissions as quickly as possible, but implementing such cuts is problematic because everyone has to agree to do more, which essentially ends up costing a lot of time and money. There is an alternative to such measures, though. Instead of relying entirely on cutting emissions, why don’t we start taking CO2 out of the atmosphere?
That’s exactly what biochemist Pierre Calleja is trying to do, and his solution almost sounds too good to be true. Calleja has developed a lighting system that requires no electricity for power. Certain types of algae can feed off of organic carbon as well as sunlight, and in the process produce carbohydrate energy for themselves as well as oxygen as a waste product.

The less water there was the easier it was for the sun to evaporate it and so the Aral sea dried up. The fish canning factory is still there, its gates firmly closed. La raison de ce temps instable est la succession de dépressions qui glissent sur l'Atlantique pour finir leur course sur la France. La semaine qui nous attend n'échappera pas à cette règle. Depuis ce week-end, une goutte froide s'est positionnée près du pays et devrait faire du surplace une bonne partie de la semaine.
