Higher Education Culture Shift Through Social Engagement? A Guide to Being a Dynamic, Open & Fully Engaged Organization

" in an article I wrote for Social Media Marketing Magazine. In the article I use three business models: "closed", "collaborative," or "open" from David Armano, Senior Vice President at Edelman Digital. I give five questions that Higher Ed must ask to determine which of the three business models they are. I also discuss how Social Media and other collaborative digital tools can shift the culture of Higher Education to being more dynamic and open. The Social Engagement Journey, a great post on Church of the Customer Blog by Jackie Huba, uses five stages of the Social Engagement Journey [image below] from Ant's Eye View to help organizations assess what stage they are at with Social Engagement. These stages are a great way for Higher Ed and other organizations to access where they are at and provides a guide on how to move to the higher stages to operationalize, get results and fully engage. I will be stepping down from the AMA West MI board as Collegiate Relations Chair after our final 2010 event on Dec. 14 when my term expires. It has been an honor to serve the wonderful student, faculty, alumni, and professional marketing members of the AMA and to work with such a great group on the board of the AMA West MI.
