T-shirt to sexy top. T-shirt Tunic Swimsuit Cover-up. T-shirt Tunic Swimsuit Cover-up By Diana Eng A summer trend I love is the tunic top, and with the passing of Memorial Day, swim season has officially started!

T-shirt Tunic Swimsuit Cover-up

The tunic top makes the perfect swimsuit cover-up, ideal for lounging in at the beach or pool. We’ll be making this cover-up out of your favorite old oversized rock T-shirt, Threadless shirt, or free tech tee. Choose a shirt with a screen-printed pattern that you like, because this will become part of the tunic design. The older and more worn the shirt is, the better, as the fabric will be softer and drape more nicely. Materials: Old T-shirt Choose a shirt that is one or two sizes larger than you normally wear. Directions: Step 1: Fold the shirt in half and pin it by matching up the shoulder seams, armholes, and side seams, as shown above. Step 2: Pin a line going down the vertical middle of the shirt (along the half-fold line that is created in Step 1) on the front and back. Step 9: Using the sleeves, cut out straps for the tunic. Mod a Cute Halter from a Crew Neck T Shirt.

My guy gifted me this hand-painted T shirt from recent travels with the inherent challenge - that I make it wearable.

Mod a Cute Halter from a Crew Neck T Shirt

Follow these instructions and you can turn any ill-fitting souvenir T into a cute slouchy halter top you'll wear all summer. You'll need thread, a sewing machine with at least zig-zag, an overlock is better, 1/4 yard of contrasting knit fabric or another T shirt of complimentary color, a large safety pin, the usual scissors and pins, and a dress form or warm body to fit. Step 1: Getting Started Lay the T shirt flat on your work surface with the body aligned as straight as you can, with the design you like best facing front. Step 2: Styling the halter front by making some choice cuts.

Measure 4" out from the edge of the Crew band on either side and mark with a pin. Step 3: The Patterning Reverse and Repeat Trick. Stylish Ways to cut your T-shirt (T-shirt hacks contest) T-shirt twist - Stop staring and start sewing! I'm still on my quest for the perfect t-shirt but today I decided to take a totally blah shirt and see if I could make it a little interesting.

T-shirt twist - Stop staring and start sewing!

I really like this color but the shape was so bland I rarely wore this shirt (and certainly not when I wanted to feel cute). This is just a cheap Walmart shirt (Faded Glory) that probably cost 3.00 so no harm in trying. I started by cutting off the hems on the sleeves and at the bottom. Then I cut another 1" inch strip off of the bottom to "re-purpose" elsewhere. Oh, and I cut off the neck band and squared the neck opening. I gathered part of the 1" strip and stitched it onto the front of the neck. Then I made two vertical 1" slashes and tied a piece of the hem through the holes. So here's the finished shirt! Here it is with my new Lantern Bloom skirt. Remember when I posted about my impending project for Sew Simple Magazine and wrote that I hoped they didn't go out of business between then and now.

In good news....Oh Boy! A finished project. Finally!

a finished project

Whatever took me so long? I recycled and refashioned a thrifted t-shirt into a fabulous summer top/minidress. I've collected lace trims for some years now and finally one found its place:) Here are some (not very tutorial) wip-pictures. Have fun experimenting with refashioning! Buit-in T-Shirt Belt.
