And you won’t even ruin the pan! I stumbled on a new – and EASIER way to make mosaic stepping stones; it’s called the indirect method and it involves contact paper. I think these would make awesome favors or gifts for a garden wedding. Just get your maids together on a Saturday afternoon and have a stepping stone party.

You will need: Round non-stick cake pan (You could also use a heart-shaped pan)VaselineContact paperOld plates or saucers that you don’t need (I got mine at the thrift store)Glass gemssea glass (optional)concretemarine varnishMosaic Glass Cutter (Optional. Put your safety glasses on. Repeat until you have all the pieces you need. Place your cake pan on your contact paper, and trace around it. Cut out the contact paper circle. Carefully lift the piece of contact paper and view your design. Let sit for two days.

Con la foto de este blog os muestro un mosaico romano en el clasico opus tessellatum que ha sido incorporado en la estructura de una mesa de terraza o interior de la casa. Este mosaico, hecho por encargo, incorpora un dibujo abstracto como elemento decorativo central, diseñado por el cliente, y esta enmarcado por una soga angular inspirada y adaptada por una soga representada en muchos de los mosaicos clasicos romanos que encontramos en ruinas de villas romanas y en mosaicos romanos que podemos apreciar en los museos de nuestras ciudades.

A concrete jungle of a metro station is becoming a brilliant, shimmering natural history museum. A community wracked by drugs and violence is reconnecting with itself and its natural heritage. And a cadre of young artists with no formal training in the art form is becoming one of the most accomplished mosaic teams on the planet.

Meet Isidora Paz López, sculptor, ceramicist, visionary and Artistic Director for a project that will cover the 84 pillars of the metro station in Puente Alto, Chile with mosaic. It was the mayor of Puento Alto, Manuel José Ossandon, who gave López the pillar challenge. When that ground-breaking project was completed, the mayor turned to López once again, this time with the prospect of covering the 84 pillars. We created the concept of showing the flora and fauna of our area and to do it from micro to macro.
