Glass Beach, A Treasure Of A Beach Created From Trash
For 18 years, from 1949 to 1967, residents of the Fort Bragg area in Mendocino County used the ocean as their dump, throwing their garbage, even automobiles over the cliffs towering what is now known as Glass Beach but was then called The Dumps . In 1967, the North Coast Water Quality Board and city officials shutdown the area and it wasn’t until 2002 that it was completely cleaned of waste and reopened as a state park. Years of pounding surf created the beautiful and colorful beach of glass that is there today. Collecting the polished glass is not allowed, as it is part of California’s MacKerricher State Park and meant to be enjoyed for generations of future visitors.Le chaton voyageur, désormais baptisé "Gasoil", dans les bras d'une bénévole de la SPA Sud-alpine à Gap. Photo Le DL/Vincent OLLIVIER Samedi dernier, un jeune chat noir d'environ deux mois, a parcouru 350 km sur l'autoroute entre la Haute-Loire et Gap, coincé qu'il était derrière le pare-choc avant d'un 4x4 Mercedes. C'est en faisant le plein que le conducteur, qui avait pris la route le matin même après une nuitée dans un hôtel du Puy-en-Velay, a entendu des miaulements provenant de dessous le capot de son véhicule. Une fois arrivé sur Gap, un carrossier parvient péniblement, après une heure de démontage, a extraire l'animal du pare-choc. Terrorisé mais indemne, notre "passager clandestin" a été ensuite recueilli par la SPA de Gap qui l'a prénommé, en hommage à son odyssée et à sa couleur "Gasoil".

An experimental pavilion entitled “BOXEL,” was designed and constructed by the students of the architecture department at The Detmold School of Architecture and Interior Design . the expressive design by henri schweynoch creates a spatial scenery for presentations, concerts, events and gatherings on the campus. as part of the digital design course, the students were not only asked to conceptualize a summer pavilion but also to construct and realize the design as a mock-up in scale 1:1, using digital design and fabrication tools. Finally a simple system of slats and screws was chosen for the assembly of the pavilion that allowed for a flexible and invisible connection. Additional bracings were placed in the upper part of the boxes to generate the required stiffness of the modules. The structural load transfer was realized by concrete-lined boxes at the three base points that served as foundation for the pavilion.

(par Bap) La boisson Big Red , pour ceux qui connaissent le chewing-gum Big Red (à la cannelle qui pique), c’est quand même une sacrée expérience à tenter. J’ai aimé : un goût qui ne ressemble à rien, ou plutôt si, à du chewing-gum type Malabar. On se retrouve avec “un drôle de soda” en bouche, proche de l’energy drink pour son côté “bonbon” mais avec un goût bien à lui. J’ai pas aimé : le soda n’a absolument rien à voir gustativement avec le chewing-gum du même nom. Aucune trace de cannelle, alors que c’est vraiment la signature du produit. Conclusion : j’ai plutôt aimé cette boisson au goût étrange, je pense que certains détesteront (il faut avoir un palais dédié à la sucrerie chimique) mais j’ai été déçu de ne pas du tout retrouver le goût du Big Red.
