Contemporary GT House by Studio Guilherme Torres The young Brazilian architect Guilherme Torres chose to live in a small studio in Londrina, Brazil. The place would lodge an artist’s painting atelier and was under redecoration for over 10 years by the architect himself. The present project came to life due to several problems found in the building such as electricity mains and rewiring, wall cracks and seepage. Within a month, all wall coatings were removed and rebuilt whilst the architect decided to build a brick table and couch. Not only is the table used to hold books and collections but it is also a place to work and eat at, while the couch stands from wall to wall and has two black fabric mattresses. The resident’s bedroom bears resemblance to a loft, with a warmer atmosphere compared to the rest of the house due to the exposed brick wall at the top of the bed.

Kucy Situated on 200 acres along the north fork of the Gunnison River, this ranch complex was first homesteaded in 1882. By the 1990s the original ranch house, except for one small log cabin, had been replaced with a mobile home, and the ranch lands and remaining agricultural buildings had fallen into poor condition. In 2005, the ranch changed ownership and plans were made for the restoration of both the structures and the land, and for the building of a new 2,500-square-foot house. Photo © J. Just inside our front door is this piece of furniture which I’ve been told is a sewing cabinet. It works well as a place to hide keys, dog leashes and anything else we can fit! The vintage radiator cover was such a great find, we don’t have a radiator, but it sure looks cute in our kitchen! Over the past few months, you may have noticed that many of my sneak peek introductions have involved a discussion of color. for me it was subconscious, but i must admit that this semester i’ve been taking a class on color as communication in marketing and art, making me hyper aware of the color around me. today i’m so excited to introduce the parisian home of stylist, textile designer and illustrator, ombline de kersabiec of les norvégiennes and zero’in. she’s french and happens to be the neighbor and friend of sandrine place (check out her amazing home here in case you missed the first time!).
Ombline’s home is a beautiful example, in my mind, of how the french, while classic and elegant, are also very forward thinking in terms of color and design. in her own work – and home – she loves juggling printed color and balancing them with form and material, while constantly trying new things, taking risks and looking to challenge herself. i hope you enjoy this peek as much as we did! Vynsie law lives in a classic tudor cottage that was built in 1929 in east dallas – her neighborhood, hollywood heights, was one of the first conservation districts in dallas. in november, vynsie, together with her family, opened a design shop/gallery/workshop called we are 1976, which focuses on supporting and promoting dallas’s creative talent. her love for an eclectic mix of bold colors and patterns, stems from her work as a graphic designer. when she’s not meeting new artists or organizing workshops and classes, vynsie loves to just chill at home with jamie, a 13-year-old beagle, nine, an 8-month-old puppy, and wednesday, a grey kitty! {thanks, vynsie!} Amy a.
