http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202545151/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 I love this product, but i keep finding ourselves having to make trips to the hardware store for more wood, as if the kit didnt come with enough/the proper 2x4's. Overall the instructions are fairly easy to understand and read, any issues are solved with simple problem solving skills. Also the floor of the loft in this kit is fairly frail.

How to wire off-peak water heater thermostat

Redundant thermostats control 2 water heaters Set upper thermostats at lower temperature than lower thermostats Purpose: Add additional tank so more hot water available at peak times, without adding additional wiring from breaker. Heater #1 must be satisfied before power is sent to heater #2. Heater #2 may not fully heat before heater #1 needs to turn ON again. This will happen IF water heater is poorly insulated or cold water is drawn from heater #1 or incoming water is very cold. Sequence: 1) Power from circuit breaker arrives at ECO-protected upper thermostat on heater #1 2) ECO protection required on upper part of tank to prevent overheating event since heat rises 3) Typical lower thermostat on heater #1 is replaced with ECO thermostat so power can be transferred to heater #2 when heater #1 thermostats are satisfied. 4) Once heater #1 is satisfied, power goes to heater #2. Either heater can be wired for redundant or typical non-simulataeous operation. http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-off-peak-water-heater-thermostats.html

How to Build a Generator Enclosure

If you have ever been camping or in a rural area where generators are common you know how disturbing the loud sound a generator makes can be. Some 'tough guys' think it's OK and almost thrive on the complaints and ensuing conflicts that come from disturbing the peace but fortunately the majority of people would really rather be 'good citizens' and contribute to the quiet, peaceful surroundings being in the country is all about. So, if you're in that position where you need a power generator either some of the time or even occasionally but don't want to spend a lot of money on a commercially built generator enclosure there is a simple and cheap solution. Learn how to build a shed that will quiet your noisy generator. Here's how to do it and below you'll find a helpful video which walks you through it step by step. Step 1 - Purchase two 4x8 sheets of insulating board a.k.a. regular styrofoam sheeting.

http://www.warmboard.com/warmboard-explained All heating systems have the singular purpose of making your home more comfortable. While a forced air system can reliably make an otherwise cold home warm they also blow dust and allergens throughout your home. They produce uneven noisy and waste energy in a number of ways. The Romans developed radiant heating over two thousand years ago, and since that time it has been considered the pinnacle of heating comfort.

Greywater recycling system kits include free graywater irrigation, leach field and planterbed consultation for reuse of washing machine water and household greywater

Greywater or graywater is household waste water from all plumbing fixtures except toilet and garbage disposal, which is blackwater . Rural homeowners with individual sewage disposal septic systems commonly divert at least their washing machine water away from the septic tank. The longer your septic tank has time to settle out solids, the better. And the less bacteria killing soaps and detergents in your septic tank, the better. Diverting graywater also reduces the load carried by your septic system leach field, greatly extending its life expectancy and effectiveness. In recent years, attention has been drawn to recycling graywater to conserve water and make better use of its fertilizer potential. https://www.thenaturalhome.com/greywater.html
But what if you’re in an area that is rarely dry? These answers are not so obvious-consider this- *Stormwater runoff is not clean water and the pollutants it carries harms our lakes and streams. *To effectively clean this water, it needs to soak into the ground. The ground is a natural filter. http://www.savingrainllc.com/rain-bench-kit.html

From EarthTechling's Caleb Denison: If you live in an area that sees a fair amount of wind and you'd like to reduce your utility bill by harnessing some of that wind power , a wind turbine might be a good idea. The trouble with most commercially made home wind turbines, though, is that they're fairly expensive, extremely tall and, if you have neighbors, they might not appreciate the new addition to the neighborhood. Washington state resident Mike Marohn commissioned an inventive alternative.

If you are in need of additional living space but you don’t have the time, money or inclination to build an addition or renovate your home, you can expand your options with movable wall systems.
