Market Transformation Towards Nearly Zero Energy Buildings Through Widespread Use of Integrated Energy Design Project duration: June 19, 2012 – December 18, 2014 MaTrID aims to support the implementation of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings by 2020. In this context the building design phase is of particular importance. Integrated Energy Design (IED) is a valuable approach to reduce the complexity of the design process and facilitate the interactions between the members of the design team. Objectives Focus area The construction, architects and engineering market is very much focused on regional and local level. Benefits The greatest benefits are provided only if applied in the earliest stages of the project, when changes to the design are still easy to implement. Results A general understanding on the advantages and requirements of IED on the part of real estate developers and building owners as well as on the designers’ side.

Presentation. MaTrID Project. Constructing Excellence in Wales » Wales Low/Zero Carbon Hub. The Wales Low/Zero Carbon Hub (WLZCH) was established in April 2009, to take forward the work of reducing carbon emissions from the built environment and help meet Welsh Government targets. To achieve these targets will require a change in how we live and work, which demands a different approach to creating and managing the built environment. The WLZCH delivers practical steps to help bring about change, investigates the technical aspects and works with Government and industry to help mainstream low/zero carbon thinking.

CEW will be facilitating this work, providing administrative support and coordinating its own activities to drive real change in the Welsh built environment. The strategic aim of the hub is to: Download a copy of the: Strategy Document.
