Applying for EU Funding – Part 1: The Pre Planning Stage This document is the first of a two part suite of guidance for prospective applicants to the 2014-2020 European Structural Funds programmes.
The guidance covers the early stages of contact with a proposed operation (project) and the process of proceeding through the Pre-Planning stage (so called because it precedes an invitation to an operation to enter the formal appraisal process and to commence completing a business plan). Once a decision has been taken by WEFO to invite an operation into the formal Business Planning stage on WEFO Online, then the second part of this guidance suite should be used: Applying for EU Funding – Part 2: The Business Planning Stage (available soon).

European Funds in Wales For the period 2014–2020, Wales will receive European Structural Funds investment worth some £2 billion for the following programmes: West Wales and the Valleys programmesEast Wales programmes In line with EU and Welsh Government strategies for supporting growth and jobs in Wales, the programmes are focused on research and innovation, helping businesses to start up and grow, supporting renewable energy and energy efficiency, connectivity and urban development, tackling poverty through sustainable employment, increasing skills and youth employment.
