How the Democratic Party can win the south I have determined that in order for the Democrats to win the south, the average level of education among the various Southern states must be raised to a higher level. Most of the south is uneducated. In fact, the south has the highest illiteracy rate in the country. The southern culture is such that their lack of education is celebrated.
There is a lot of research to show that most college graduates vote Democrat (see below chart). The members of the Republican Party are also, on average, much older than members of the Democratic Party. Figure 1: This chart shows data from the 2008 presidential elections. The above chart shows that most members of the Republican Party are more “traditional” in their beliefs.
