In 2005 I decided to speak about my experiences of Renaldo and the Loaf, something I’d not done since Brian and I stopped recording around 1986. My thoughts at the time were recorded in an interview with Oscar Perez which I posted on the web and which had some far-reaching consequences that I’d not anticipated. In particular, Brian got in touch and we re-established contact after almost 20 years. This reconnection directly led to my renewed interest in music making and indirectly led to The Darkening Scale and The Tapeworm Vessel. DJ: A number of reasons, I discovered recently that there’s a Renaldo and the Loaf website. I was surprised by the level of interest in Renaldo and the Loaf and I thought it might be interesting to contribute something on the subject.

SPIN : ''Paranoiac, visionary, misanthrope, and machine fetishist, the late composer Raymond Scott was also an electronic music pioneer and inventor geek who had Madison Avenue paying him to soundtrack its vision of postwar American futurism. The music on MANHATTAN RESEARCH INC. is both archaic and tres moderne . It reveals the fears and fantasies of a nation in boom-time denial.
