Lilian Greenwood (41) of Burgage, Southwell, won the nomination from an all-female shortlist of six. She received 101 votes in the final ballot. Her nearest rival received 88 votes. “I am very proud,” she said. “It has been a very hard and well-fought campaign. “It was very good to win having put in a lot of hard work over several months.” Lilian Greenwood said Mr Alan Simpson, who will remain the Nottingham South MP until the next General Election, was very well known and would be a hard act to follow. She said the issues voters had raised with her included provision of good quality health services they could trust and rely on and schools that would provide a good education and raise aspirations.

They act as if they owned the whole park. Absolutely fearless, they fly all over, letting other hawks know that they have the rights to their territory.
