The friendly antelope was just hours old when it made the mistake of cuddling up to a leopard for 45 minutes.The naive youngster got so cosy that it even tried to suckle milk from the killer cat.But what could have been a heartwarming tale of nature as its kindest actually had a predictably brutal outcome. The leopard took full advantage of the ready meal in its lap and devoured the trusting infant, which had been hidden in a bush by its mother who was powerless to help in Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa.Safari guide Marius Croetzee, 30, witnessed the incident from metres away. ‘It is not uncommon for a leopard to make more than one kill if the opportunity presents itself,’ he said. ‘The lamb was newborn and completely oblivious to the danger it was in.
