San Juan | Miércoles 21 de abril de 2010EFE | El Universal17:07 Puerto Rico fue elegido sede de la Cumbre Mundial de Bibliotecas e Información convocada para el año 2011 con el lema "Bibliotecas más allá de las Bibliotecas: Integración, Innovación e Información para todos", informaron los organizadores. La representante de la cumbre, Sofía Cánepa, indicó en un comunicado de prensa que el evento se celebrará del 13 al 18 de agosto de 2011 en el Centro de Convenciones de Puerto Rico en San Juan. Se espera que unos 7 mil profesionales de la información de bibliotecas nacionales, académicas, especiales, públicas y escolares, así como de archivos históricos, instituciones vinculadas a la cultura y representantes de gobierno y organismos internacionales de ese ámbito participen en la cumbre.

Río Piedras, (UPR)– La organización de empleados de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Unión Nacional en Defensa Universitaria (UNDU), advirtió que no permitirá que las aseguradoras bajo investigación por parte de las agencias federales en el caso de ACODESE traten de adueñarse de más de 30 millones de dólares utilizando la candidatura del doctor, Francisco Joglar Pesquera a la rectoría del Recinto de Ciencias Médicas de la UPR para lograr sus propósitos. “El doctor Joglar es un alto ejecutivo de la aseguradora Triple S y su candidatura representa un grave conflicto de interés para la institución de la Universidad de Puerto Rico y al país”, sostuvo el Portavoz de la organización. Joglar Pesquera tendrá una audiencia hoy frente a la Junta de Síndicos de la UPR a las 9 am para defender su candidatura ante estos señalamientos.
