Published: February 25, 2008 The following information identifies important monitoring counters used for capacity planning and performance monitoring of a system. These counters are referenced in Step 7: “Design the Farm,” in which the form factor and size of the terminal servers and the TS Web Access server are determined. They are also referenced in Step 9: “Size and Place the Terminal Services Role Services for the Farm , ” where the form factor and sizing for each of the Terminal Services role services is determined. Proper design and sizing of the terminal server and the Terminal Services role services is critical to the effective operation of the environment, particularly since the servers will host a somewhat unusual workload: multiple copies of applications that were likely originally designed to run on client workstations.
Introduction The purpose of this article is to provide prescriptive guidance on how to troubleshoot logical and physical disk response times in regards to Windows performance analysis. Start with the following performance counters to analyze disk response times: \LogicalDisk\Avg. Disk Sec/Read \LogicalDisk\Avg. Disk Sec/Write \LogicalDisk\Disk Bytes/Sec \LogicalDisk\Disk Reads/Sec \LogicalDisk\Disk Writes/Sec \LogicalDisk\Split IO/sec \LogicalDisk\Disk Transfers/sec
