At its Livery Banquet on 14 March the Company of Chartered Architects awarded OMA's new Rothschild Bank headquarters with the New City Architecture Award for 2011. The award recognises a building which, in the opinion of the judges, makes the most significant contribution to the streetscape and skyscape of the City of London.

Internationaal toonaangevend bureau rond architect Remmert (Rem) Lucas Koolhaas (17-11-1944). Hij richtte in 1975 het OMA (voorheen Office for Metropolitan Architecture) op met Madelon Vriesendorp, Elia Zenghelis en Zoe Zenghelis in Londen. Vanwege een aantal Nederlandse opdrachten vestigt OMA zich in 1981 in Rotterdam. Het bureau deed vanaf het begin aan een aantal spraakmakende prijsvragen mee, waaronder die voor de Tweede Kamer en het stadhuis in Den Haag. In de beginjaren werden nog niet veel ontwerpen gerealiseerd.

Rem Koolhaas ( Rotterdam , 17 november 1944 ) is een Nederlandse architect . Remment Lucas Koolhaas werd geboren als zoon van de schrijver en film criticus Anton Koolhaas . Zijn grootvader was de architect Dirk Roosenburg ( 1887 - 1962 ). Tussen 1952 en 1956 woonde het gezin-Koolhaas in Indonesië . In Nederland ging Koolhaas naar de Nederlandse Filmacademie , waar hij zich specialiseerde in scenarioschrijven en samen met Jan de Bont , Frans Bromet , René Daalder , en Samuel Meyering in 1965 de 1,2,3 Groep vormde.
