Norman Robert Foster , sinds 1990 Sir Norman Foster en sinds 1999 ook Lord Foster of Thames Bank ( Manchester , 1 juni 1935 ) is een Britse architect . Hij is bekend om zijn ontwerpen van onder andere de Millennium Bridge en het kantoorgebouw 30 St Mary Axe in Londen. In Berlijn tekende hij voor de herbouw van de koepel op het Rijksdaggebouw . Daarnaast ontwierp hij hij het Viaduct van Millau en de renovatie van Camp Nou . In Nederland heeft Foster onder meer het World Port Center in Rotterdam ontworpen. Voor Antwerpen ontwierp hij een enkeldeksbrug voor de Oosterweelverbinding .
Norman Foster was born in Manchester, England in 1935. He received his architectural training at Manchester University School of Architecture, which he entered at age 21, and Yale University. He worked with Richard Rogers and Sue Rogers and his wife, Wendy Foster, as a member of "Team 4" until Foster Associates was founded in London in 1967. The " High Tech " vocabulary of Foster Associates shows an uncompromising exploration of technological innovations and forms. The firm's work also shows a dedication to architectural detailing and craftsmanship.

Norman Robert Foster, Baron Foster of Thames Bank , OM Kt. (born 1 June 1935) is a British architect whose company maintains an international design practice, Foster + Partners . Foster was raised in Manchester in a working-class family and was intrigued by design and engineering from a young age. His years observing Mancunian architecture subsequently influenced his works, and was inspired to pursue a career in architecture after a treasurer clerk noticed his sketches and interest in Manchester's buildings while he worked at Manchester Town Hall .
