Of all the bands to come out of the early 1980's—the decade of MTV and the music video—the Cocteau Twins are among the few who chose not to exploit the medium to their commercial advantage. It came down to a simple desire to either do something unique with video or nothing at all. From 1988 (with the advent of a major label recording contract with Capitol), fans could expect one or two—often visually rich—videos with each album release.
