Picture, Picture on the Wall... Suddbar tavla – Craft of the Day, erasable board. Dreamcatchers. I’m really diggin the whole hippy thing.

dreamcatchers

And while Craig is quick to correct me on the fact that dream catchers are not hippy-ish, I still think of them that way. Natural, care free, simple. All things I relate to those old hippies. hah. The point of a dream catcher is to weed out bad dreams. Depending on who you talk to, there will be two different stories on how this happens.

This is not a traditional Native- American dream catcher. Clay jewelry dishes. This is one of those projects I started just to have fun, never expecting to create something I truly loved!

clay jewelry dishes

They are little dishes to hold jewelry, coins, keys, etc. Just in time for Mother's Day? I've never really worked with clay. Here I just used the Sculpey oven-bake clay my kids make stuff with. But by adding texture and paint, you can apparently transform something very simple into something beautiful. Puff Daddy - knitted stool. Puff is the Norwegian word for stool.

Puff Daddy - knitted stool

We really liked the pouf from Christien Meinderstsma, but it´s way out of our price range. This simple pattern for a knitted stool has much thinner yarn, but the budget is just as thin;) Nice to rest your legs on, and very popular for the kids. What we used:Eskimo, 18 balls (Or yarn suitable for US #13 needles)Acrylic yarn would probably be a really good alternative, as it´s a piece of furnitureUS #19 circular needles2 cheap duves (feather and down) How we did it:Cast on 35 stitches using three threads.Knit the garter stitch until you´ve knitted all the balls, and there is just enough yarn left to asseble the stool. You now have ONE rectangular piece.Cast off loosely.

Assemble the first long side. Stuff the duves into the stool. Weekend Art Project « The New Domestic. E made a painting this weekend!

Weekend Art Project « The New Domestic

We’ve been wanting a large scale art-piece to go up on our dining room wall. We had a large framed photograph up but, at 26″ x 32″, it didn’t have the right scale for the room. We wanted to go big. Like, 60″ x 36″ big. Now the last time either of us did any painting was in art school. Inspired by color field paintings, I made a sketch in Illustrator and we tried different color combinations til we were happy.

Love note pillow tutorial. Before I moved from Oregon to San Diego to be near my boyfriend (my now husband) we maintained a long distance relationship.

love note pillow tutorial

A big part of that relationship was writing letters, email and LOTS of little love notes sent back and forth. We both saved all those letters and notes and once in while we will pull them out, spend time shaking our heads and laughing while reading them- so naive and silly we were! These days (insert 10 years) we still write each other notes and letters. There is just something so wonderful about a hand written note.

If you filed away the idea of making cardboard wall decor after seeing Suzy Myers' surprising faux iron scrollwork, now is probably the time to be saving up a supply of toilet paper tubes.

TP Tube Wall Art

I noticed a commercial for the Scott's Naturals tube-free variety a few nights ago, and realized cardboard rolls may soon be a thing of the past. The ad is a wonder of tp roll skyscrapers and such... wish I could share it with you here, but alas, no one has posted it on YouTube yet. (But it seems even tp rolls can stir up controversy, as you'll see in this video!) Leaving that behind, I didn't have to look far to find lots of inspiring cardboard tube decorating ideas. Head to your local thrift store, and you'll likely find a few, in all their harvest gold glory. Usually sold in kits, these guys involved strategically placed nails or pins that were connected by string or yarn to create geometrical shapes or mathematical patterns. How to Make a Stone Heart - Craft Projects. Palette-able Patio: Cheap Chic Cocktail Table - Today's Nest. I love the notion of sitting on the patio with a tall glass of sangria in the summer. Creating an outdoor space that you love to visit makes all the difference. Paper Starburst Pendant Light. So I had a different project that I was going to post today, an update version of my Book Pages Pendant Lantern from Project 19, but then I started working on this light idea, and I am so excited by the results I just couldn’t wait to show you guys!

Paper Starburst Pendant Light

My inspiration and guide was this light from Design*Sponge, that I spotted on Pinterest. I really liked the idea, and I had a roll of white vellum lying around left over from college that I thought would look beautiful. So I started cutting triangles. A Mason of One’s Own - Beyond Beyond. One thing that we get a lot of envy of over in the Land Beyond Beyond, are the beautiful little mason jars.

A Mason of One’s Own - Beyond Beyond

These beauties are ubiquitous when it comes to the expectations that we have of weddings Americana style. But, well the closest that we come to here are the Robinson’s marmalade jars – which really don’t do it for us – we love the look and feel of the lovely Mason’s. They have this chunky solid feel that we just love. So, of course you could colour us happy when we happened upon the Pure and Noble blog (check it out there are a whole load of lovely finds up in there). Project 21 Week 23 – Crayon Alphabet. I have been really excited about this project for a while, ever since I spotted it here. I thought this was the cutest idea, and immediately rushed off to research where I could find nice cheap shadow boxes and crayons. Flash forward a few weeks once I had assembled all my supplies, and this is what you get: I chose the letter B to start in honor of my little guy Basel, my adorable long-haired dachshund puppy.

Not to mention, its just an interesting letter. Inspired by Yulia Brodskaya. I can't get over how amazing these are. I wouldn't be surprised if Yulia invented quilling. She is a 28 year old artist from Moscow who creates beautiful designs from vertical pieces of thin paper and her website is full of inspiration in color, line, shadow and technique. You don't have to be a fellow quiller to wish you were like this great lady.

Even though her pieces would be amazing if they were drawn, it was the fact that they are 3d that caught my attention. DIY+Pregnant Brain. Without getting into too many details-the baby is going to be a little longer than we thought. We were afraid that she was going to be early, and now that she isn't, I sort of feel like I'm living life in limbo.I don't know if it's just me, or women in general, who find the strangest tasks to pass time until a baby arrives. Suddenly, the weirdest things pop on to our 'to do' lists, and become oddly important. And the tasks seem to grow weirder and weirder with each baby. Bottle (w)rap. I drink a lot of wine.
