Wagon full of stars. Ron and Hermione dolls. Well Happy New Year to all of you!!!

Ron and Hermione dolls

I've been very busy this vacation. (Prepare for a mega-post). I finally finished my Ron and Hermione dolls. Harry won't be alone at my crocheted Hogwarts castle anymore! First I'll start with Ron. I had to make him in his maroon R sweater. For his shirt I chose a faded country variegated color so it would look "patchy" or at least one of Mrs. I also made him one of those hats with the long tassels which he wore in the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. Hermione and Crookshanks. Her school uniform is all one piece. I know I have one of those pins that look like a skirt pin to help keep the skirt closed wherever you want.

Here she is with the uniform off. Now. Crookshanks and Scabbers. Here's the trio together at long last. You'll have to check the archives here to see the rest of the Potter dolls. Also, I finally found some "wands for the dolls. This one is Snape's wand. Anyway, Happy New Year. Thank you all for visiting my blog!!!!

Design Adventures: Batman Inspired Costume. Totally fun Batman costume!

Design Adventures: Batman Inspired Costume

This project takes a bit of time, but isn't very complicated. You could easily get it done over a weekend. The stitches are simple, but the cape can get time consuming. I am actually planning to add more length to my sons cape. Right now it covers his entire back, but I am going for the full Batman effect, so I must make it longer! Crochet Batman Inspired Costume Materials: * H hook *Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in black (Get the BIG roll!) *Yarn needle Stitches Used: Ch = Chain DC = Double Crochet SC = Single Crochet TC = Treble Crochet DC dec = Double Crochet Decrease Sl st = Slip Stitch MC = Magic Circle *Note: If you are not familiar with this technique, I highly recommend learning it for this project. Begin with a Magic Circle. R1: 8 DC in center R2: 2 DC in each stitch around.

R3: *2DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next stitch* Repeat around. R4: *2DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 2 stitches* Repeat around. R5: *2DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 3 stitches* Repeat around.

Crochet Inspiration/things to make. Neat Ripple Pattern. Ahhhhhhhh look at all those hooky ripplesome ripples, aren't they glorious?

Neat Ripple Pattern

I love crocheting this pattern, its relatively simple, rhythmic and soothing, but playing with colours in this way is also energising, exciting and a lot of fun. Well to me it is any road. there's something magical and mesmerising about the way the ripple effect makes the colours sing and dance next to each other, and it's a pattern I can see myself coming back to time after time. When I made my first ripple blanket last year (finished in August 2008), I followed a pattern in Jan Eatons book (the Soft Waves pattern), and it has to be said that at first this pattern was not plain sailing.

But I persevered and eventually I cracked it. But truthfully I always think crochet patterns look and sound far too complex, more than they actually need to be. So what I've done here for you is to write my own pattern. To start out, you need to crochet your foundation chain. That whole thing is a tr2tog (treble two together)
