CSI: Miami's Rex Linn has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, according to Deadline. Linn plays “Det. Frank Tripp” on CSI, but will play “Tennessee Harry”. The spaghetti southern also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson. The story follows the character Django (Fox), a freed slave, who, under the protection and care of a German bounty hunter (Waltz) becomes a badass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner (DiCaprio).

A previous review for the script said that "it’s a 100 percent pure popcorn and revenge flick, it is pure genius in the way it takes on the evil slave owning south. Tarantino plans to start shooting the film in New Orleans in January, and the Weinstein Company has set the films release date for Christmas Day 2012. RZA Cast in Tarantino's DJANGO UNCHAINED. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson and maybe, just maybe Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be in the movie as well. I can definitely see Rza playing a hardcore mean badass in this film. Kerry Washington Lands ‘Django Unchained’ Lead. Joseph Gordon-Levitt chez Tarantino. Kurt Russell to Replace Kevin Costner in DJANGO UNCHAINED. It looks like Kurt Russell will be reuniting with Quentin Tarantino in his next film Django Unchained.

Russell is currently in talks to take on the character that Kevin Costner was supposed to play. Russell would join Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. The characters name is Ace Woody, "the sadistic trainer of the male fighting slaves who entertain the white patrons of Candyland as well as the female slaves who are forced to be prostitutes. Russell worked with Tarantino on the film Death Proof, which wasn't the directors finest moment. As previously reported, the story follows Django (Fox), a freed slave, who, under the protection and care of a German bounty hunter (Waltz) becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner (DiCaprio). DJANGO UNCHAINED adds a Tarantino Alumn to the cast! Kevin Costner Drops out of Tarantino's DJANGO UNCHAINED.

I'm actually kind of bummed out to tell you that Kevin Costner has had to drop out of Quentin Tarantion's Spaghetti Southern Django Unchained. I was actually really looking forward to seeing Costner in the film, this seems like the kind of role that would help his career. Costner would have played a character named Ace Woody, a "sadistic trainer of the male fighting slaves who entertain the white patrons of Candyland as well as the female slaves who are forced to be prostitutes. The club and ranch are owned by Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Ace Woody is the one who pits the "mandingo" fighters against one another, and has little qualms about mistreating and even killing the slaves who don't measure up.

" The news of Costner's departure came from a tweet from Variety reporter Justin Kroll who said, "And in another interesting piece of casting news, Kevin Costner has had to pass on DJANGO UNCHAINED due to scheduling conflicts. " Samuel L. Jackson Confirmed for Tarantino's DJANGO UNCHAINED. It seems like Samuel L. Jackson has been attached to this new Quentin Tarantino film project Django Unchained from the moment it was announced.

We pretty much assumed he had been cast in the film this whole time, but it was recently made official. Jackson is set to play Stephen, a house slave and the right-hand man of a sadistic slavemaster Candie who is being played by (Leonardo DiCaprio). Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Kevin Costner also star in the film. The film has been described as a Sergio Leone style Spaghetti Western, but Tarantinio is calling it a Southern, because it takes place in the south. Django Unchained Adds Kevin Costner.

It looks as though Quentin Tarantino may have a chance to work with Leonardo DiCaprio on Django Unchained. As you may recall, DiCaprio was sought by Tarantino for the role of Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds, before Christoph Waltz was cast.

A recent tweet from Jeff Goldsmith, states that Tarantino has convinced DiCaprio to play the role of Calvin Candie, the villainous slave owner in the film. Goldsmith is the host of the podcast series "Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith" so it is highly likely that he has enough connections to know what he's talking about. I never like to read a script for a film before it's released, unlike the many people that have. According to Katey Rich at Cinemablend, "Candie is reportedly a plantation owner and former owner of central character Django, an escaped slave.

" Here's the previously released story description of the film: As of right now, there is nothing other than Goldsmith's tweet to go on, so this is definitely a rumor. Will Smith Emerges as Frontrunner to Star in Quentin Tarantino's Next Film (Exclusive) Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images Will Smith has emerged as the frontrunner to star in Quentin Tarantino’s next film, Django Unchained, a spaghetti Western about a slave in the Old South who teams with a German bounty hunter to search for his wife.

Tarantino stalwarts Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz also are circling key parts. The film, Tarantino’s follow-up to his worldwide blockbuster Inglourious Basterds, will be distributed domestically by the Weinstein Co., but Tarantino is in the process of selecting a studio partner to release the film internationally. Sources say he was meeting with Universal executives Friday, and similar meetings with Sony, Paramount, Warner Bros. and possibly others have been scheduled. Sources prepped for those meetings say Tarantino would like Smith to star in the film, the script for which has been making the rounds in recent days to wide acclaim.
