Share stories with Xtranormal | Instructional Design Fusions. Xtranormal is a tool that allows you to create 3D animated movies in minutes.

The technology (or what are my powers) Xtranormal Text-to-Movie is entirely web-based. (An alternate version of the platform, Xtranormal State, requires download.) When you register, you get access to a variety of “showpaks” or sets of backgrounds and actors that are associated with a particular theme. Some of the backgrounds and actors are free but if you want ultimate control, you’ll have to buy Xtranormal points (xp). In STEP 2, you’ll see a screen that tells you about your free and less free options. Xtranormal doesn’t try to trick you into buying points and gives you a run through in this initial screen.

In STEP 3, you’ll add your script. Adding action to your script is critical if you want your movie to seem more dynamic. When you’re satisfied, you can publish your movie to Xtranormal. Rendering may take a few minutes and the time will vary with the length of your movie. Instructional strategies Like this: Emergent gameplay. Emergent gameplay refers to complex situations in video games, board games, or table top role-playing games that emerge from the interaction of relatively simple game mechanics.[1] Intentional emergence[edit] Intentional emergence occurs when some creative uses of the game are intended by the game designers. Since the 1970s and 1980s board games and table top role playing games such as Cosmic Encounter or Dungeons & Dragons have featured intentional emergence as a primary game function by supplying players with relatively simple rules or frameworks for play that intentionally encouraged them to explore creative strategies or interactions and exploit them toward victory or goal achievement.

[citation needed] Creative solutions[edit] In games with complex physics and flexible object interaction it may be possible to complete in-game problems using solutions that the game designers did not foresee. Emergent narrative[edit] In The Sims, a story may emerge from the actions of the player. Location-based game. A pervasive game is one where the gaming experience is extended out in the real world,[1] or where the fictive world in which the game takes place blends with the physical world.[2] The "It's Alive" mobile games company described pervasive games as "games that surround you",[3] while Montola, Stenros and Waern's book, Pervasive Games defines them as having "one or more salient features that expand the contractual magic circle of play spatially, temporally, or socially.

"[4] The concept of a "magic circle" draws from the work of Johan Huizinga, who describes the boundaries of play.[5] The origins of pervasive gaming are related[clarification needed] to the concepts of pervasive computing, ubiquitous computing and ubiquitous gaming.[2] Classification[edit] Examples[edit] See also[edit] References[edit] External links[edit] IPerG (Integrated Project on Pervasive Gaming)

Free audio fiction. Transmedia. Transmedia and Education: Three Essential Readings. Henry Jenkins’ New Media Literacies class at USC has been a treasure-trove of readings and insights. Three recent articles covered in class — read alongside Jenkins’ own book, Convergence Culture, and his excellent MacArthur-funded New Media Literacies white paper — struck me as particularly essential for anyone who’s looking to build an understanding of what multimodal communication is and how transmedia relates to education, literacy and literature. Most of these readings can be found in various corners of the Web, but I’ve also posted them here (along with a brief gloss and anecdote) for those who are interested. They are: Of course, we have a long way to go before these kinds of messages can establish a critical mass in institutional and creative practice. The easy analogy here is that of the early cinema, wherein fiction films were shot using the conventions of the proscenium drawn from the theatre.
