Valentine’s Day Cards. Grace is thoroughly excited that V-day is just around the corner.

Valentine’s Day Cards

Everyday she comes home, goes straight to her craft table and draws a million hearts in every shade of the rainbow. As she rushes by me in a blur of pink and white, I ask, “What are you doing?” She puts yet another Valentine day card on the fridge and says over her shoulder, “Mommy, I’m getting ready! Don’t you know that it’s Valentine’s day soon!” The girl just can’t get enough of those hearts. So, here’s what I usually do for the Valentine’s day exchange in her classroom…the night before, I drag myself to Walgreens, buy the super commercial Valentine 24 pack , usually with some sort of Disney princess on it…grab a bag of Hershey’s kisses and call it a day. Does it get the job done? Is Grace excited about her generic Valentine cards? BUT… is this method creative? I love the idea of cutting out hearts from fabric scraps. With Grace’s cupcake obsession we have no shortage of these liners. I just adore this idea! So sweet. Xo, Diy scratch off cards.

DIY Pop Up Cards. Today’s column is by Oh Happy Day contributor Michaela of Bliss!

DIY Pop Up Cards

I’ve been seeing a lot of pop-up cards around the web lately, all using very intricate, sometimes complicated folding and glueing techniques. Since I’m really more of the simple-diy-lover, I’ve put together a quick and versatile pop-up card tutorial. The idea is that you can use one basic technique for an endless amount of different pop-up cards. Start with a simple card and fold it in half. Then cut parallel lines (in pairs of the same length) into the middle fold as shown in the picture.

Now start crafting the bits and pieces to display in your card. Stick some more balloons, or whatever it is you’re crafting, onto the flaps and voilà – you’re done. In the same way you can also create text cards (Happy Birthday), fields of flowers or rows of trees. All photos by Michaela for Oh Happy Day. DIY Caramel Apple Kit. Oct 13 I have a particular fondness for the sweets that are specific to fall and winter.

DIY Caramel Apple Kit

Caramel apples are classic, and this little kit is a fun way to give them new life. You can bring the kits to a get-together, give them out at your own parties, or take them along on a cool weather picnic. You could also set up a Caramel Apple Bar and have all the ingredients arranged in dishes for guests to make their own. These kits are best when paired with a petite vintage butter or cheese knife to cut the apple into slices and slather caramel on each slice. Materials: 6″x3″x3″ gable box with window raffia or paper shreds 3 two-ounce plastic food containers and lids per kit small butter knife gift tags.
