The proposed cycle track network will comprise a backbone from Tsuen Wan to Tuen Mun and Tuen Mun to Ma On Shan, and branching off sections to Lung Kwu Tan, Nam Sang Wai, Sai Kung and Sam Mun Tsai.
The total length of the cycle tracks in the network is approximately 105 kilometres. The cycle track between Tsuen Wan and Tuen Mun is approximately 22 kilometres long with footpath. The cycle track will include supporting facilities such as entry/exit hubs and resting stations, and associated landscaping, traffic aids and ancillary works. In the entry/exit hubs and resting stations along the cycle track, cycle parking space with racks will be provided. In order to improve the recreational value of the cycle track for the public to enjoy, the HKSARG plans to develop a comprehensive cycle track network in the New Territories to improve the quality of living.
The network is now under implementation in phases to bring forward its completion as early as possible. To meet the users’ needs, adequate supporting facilities including cycle parking areas along the network will be provided. An aesthetic and user friendly design for cycle parking facilities is crucial to enhance their utilisation, as well as improve the cityscape.
