Biophilia + Technophila: Full Text by jonbailey April 5, 2012, 10:08 am Filed under: Academia , Biomimetics , Publications , Research , Technology , Theory | Tags: Academia , Biomimetics , Publications , Research , Technology , Theory THROUGHOUT the course of human evolution our lives have become intrinsically tied to the evolution of technology to the point where our trajectories have become one of an interwoven existence as they continue to become interconnected through the progression of time. Infatuations with biology and technology spurred by the Industrial Revolution and propelled by “modernity” have created a society infatuated with biology and technology as they seep into nearly every facet of our culture. As our technology advances our knowledge of biology increases along with our ability to manipulate matter at the atomic and molecular scales, each propelling the other into further innovation, discovery, and implementation.
http://beta.arandalasch.com/ Aranda\Lasch is a New York-based architectural studio dedicated to experimental research and innovative building. Established in 2003 by Benjamin Aranda and Chris Lasch, the studio designs buildings, installations and objects through a deep investigation of materials and structure. Their approach can be described as intuitive computing which is not about problem-solving but rather opening up new opportunities in design. Winners of the United States Artists Award and Young Architects Award in 2007, their early architectural projects are the subject of the book Tooling.

MOS, Michael Meredith, Hilary Sample, ... This website is not an encyclopedia. It is an informal bulletin board to pin up images and text- a way to make the design process both more intimate and social, allowing others to engage our work and give us feedback, while providing a venue to illustrate and reflect upon what we're doing. We really don't know exactly when MOS started, but it was sometime in 2003.
