The classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles (CPGE), commonly called classes prépas or prépas , are part of the French post-secondary education system. They consist of two very intensive years (extendable to three years) which act as a preparatory course (or cram school ) with the main goal of training undergraduate students for enrolment in one of the grandes écoles . The workload is generally very high and in-class competition between students is often encouraged. Grades in these classes are usually very low. Teachers do this to intimidate students and thus retain only the best for the second year. This leads to many classes being psychologically stressful, and some students giving up before the completion of their studies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classe_pr%C3%A9paratoire_aux_grandes_%C3%A9coles

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandes_%C3%A9coles The grandes écoles (literally in French "great schools") of France are higher education establishments outside the main framework of the French university system. The grandes écoles select students for admission based chiefly on national ranking in competitive written and oral exams. In contrast, French public universities have a legal obligation to accept all candidates of the region who hold a baccalauréat .
Je ne suis pas certains que les appellations des écoles appartenant à Parsitech soient respectées dans ce classement. Il faudrait vérifier ce fait, mais l'ENSMP s'appelle désormais Mines ParisTech.
