Planet MySQL - Archives - MySQL: a few observations on the JSON type. MySQL 5.7 comes with built-in JSON support, comprising two major features: Despite being added rather recently (in MySQL 5.7.8 to be precise - one point release number before the 5.7.9 GA version), I feel the JSON support so far looks rather useful.

Planet MySQL - Archives - MySQL: a few observations on the JSON type

Improvements are certainly possible, but compared to for example XML support (added in 5.1 and 5.5), the JSON feature set added to 5.7.8 is reasonably complete, coherent and standards-compliant. (We can of course also phrase this more pessimistically and say that XML support falls short on these accounts, but that's not what this post is about :-) There is potentially a lot to write and explain about the JSON support, and I can't hope to completely cover the subject in one blog post.

Rather, I will highlight a few things I observed and I hope that this will be helpful for others that want to get started with JSON in MySQL 5.7. If the string is not parseable as JSON, you'll get a runtime error: Planet MySQL - Archives - MySQL: a few observations on the JSON type. Amazon EC2 Key Pairs. Amazon EC2 uses public–key cryptography to encrypt and decrypt login information.

Amazon EC2 Key Pairs

Public–key cryptography uses a public key to encrypt a piece of data, such as a password, then the recipient uses the private key to decrypt the data. The public and private keys are known as a key pair. To log in to your instance, you must create a key pair, specify the name of the key pair when you launch the instance, and provide the private key when you connect to the instance. Linux instances have no password, and you use a key pair to log in using SSH. With Windows instances, you use a key pair to obtain the administrator password and then log in using RDP.

Schema - DreamFactory

By "schema", we mean in its traditional SQL database sense, i.e. a set of properties that define the layout of tables and their fields including relationships between them, not the schema namespaces used by Microsoft and other database vendors. However, we have extended this meaning to also encompass the properties that define tables on NoSQL database, i.e. any table key configuration, etc., some of which are database-type dependent. Forever sessions - DreamFactory

Normally JWT session tokens can only be refreshed prior to the DF_JWT_REFRESH_TTL timer expiring. By enabling forever sessions you can force the system to ignore DF_JWT_REFRESH_TTL and allow refresh at any time (forever). This is similar to the Facebook model, where a device remains logged into an account forever, unless explicitly logged out. The session token will still expire after DF_JWT_TTL and require refreshing, but it can be refreshed forever. Configuration.

However, we have extended this meaning to also encompass the properties that define tables on NoSQL database, i.e. any table key configuration, etc., some of which are database-type dependent. Common Parameters & Formatting All database services have a root-level resource called _schema that allows API access to the schema knowable by the database connection provisioned. All calls to this resource take the form of... http[s]://<host_name>/api/v2/<service_name>/_schema/[<table_name>/[<field_name>]] where table_name and field_name are optional and control what level of resource the client is acting on. Lookups - DreamFactory. Lookup Keys allow the DreamFactory administrator to store any number of "key value" pairs that can be attached to an app, a user, a role, or to the global system configuration of the instance itself.

Lookups - DreamFactory

The key names can be used in a variety of DreamFactory interfaces by any API client, and the key values are automatically substituted on the server. Any Lookup Key can be marked as private, which causes the key's value to be securely stored on the server-side and not retrievable by the client, even with admin credentials. (1) DreamFactory Forum.
