Around 800AD, one of the ancient civilizations of our planet was being created. During the Golden Era of the Khmer Kingdom, one of the most power empires in Southeast Asia gave rise to magnificent art, culture, & architecture. These great inventions became one of the few wonders of the world that still amaze people throughout generations and still hold a great impact in present-day Cambodian society. Angkor National Museum takes visitors through a journey back in time from the creation to the highest point of Khmer civilization.

Traveling the Ancient Nakasendo Highway - Part 2: Tsumago-juku

http://paulstravelpics.blogspot.com/2009/02/traveling-ancient-nakasendo-highway.html This article is about a remarkably charming place with a notably hard-to-pronounce name. Are you a photographer? Then come and frame your perfect moment. Or are you a history bluff?
Back from KINOSAKI ONSEN which was still lovely and where I took so many baths, I’m trying to put the pics on the website but from where I am it doesn’t seem to work , will try later riddle… it’s like a crunchy cookie and it has legs and I had it as an appetizer for dinner in my minshuku in TSUMAGO….. what is it? Well I went back to T SURUYA RYOKAN which I highly recommend since the owner is nice and speaks English, he even advised me to see the fireworks, and the ryokan is in the center of town. I spent two days basically hopping from onsen to onsen and doing nothing else.

Shirakawa-go and Gokayama Travel: Overnight at a gassho-zukuri house

Dining room of a gassho-zukuri farmhouse More than a dozen gassho-zukuri farmhouses in and around Ogimachi are now functioning as minshuku , family run, Japanese style lodgings. An overnight stay at one of these farmhouses is a highly recommended experience, as it is a great way to experience a traditional Japanese family home and get more intimate with gassho-zukuri buildings. In the traditional style, guest rooms come with tatami mat floors and a low table. During the night, futon are spread out to sleep on. Baths and toilets are typically modern but shared.

After my brief stop in Okayama , I followed my road until Iya valley, on Shikoku, spending two nights at a mountain hotel. I voluntarily chose a remote and little frequented area in order to recharge my batteries, far from the hordes of tourists. As always, the quality of the bath was one of my main criteria when I chose the hotel and this one didn't disappoint...it is accessed via a small cable car: The view and atmosphere up there definitely lived up to my expectations...simply amazing...

I would actually have to recommend against Himeji, there is currently major construction going on right now and the entire castle is encased in a giant scaffold until like 2014 or something. If you like history and culture though, consider Asakusa (Tokyo) Kamakura (Kanagawa prefecture, near Yokohama) Kyoto (Kinkakuji, Ginkakuji, Kiyomizudera, Philosopher's Path, Arashiyama, etc.) Nara Uji (like 20 minutes from Kyoto in the same direction as Nara) Probably not time to do all of it, you could spend 5 days in Kyoto alone seeing all that stuff, but it will make for a fun trip. Definitely get the JR Rail Pass by the way it's awesome.

What a varying group of answers you have gotten. The exchange rate doesn't mean much. Flight prices range from $550-2000. I have never spent over $900 to fliy to Japan, so let' go worst case scenario here, by my history and we start with $900 for the flight.

Japan Tour Packages

19. Re: Japan Deluxe Tours I took this tour package back in 2008 and had a wonderful time. My sister and I had never traveled with our mother before as a family and decided that she would enjoy an experience of going to Japan . My wife came with the 3 of us and we extended our stay in Japan after the tour package was over so we could visit her grandmother in Northern Japan. Although all of us are of Japanese decent, we were all born an raised in the US.
