Examiner.com partners with Thomson Reuters in new venture In an effort to incorporate local news, along with adding more diversity and variety to its offerings, Thomson Reuters is launching Reuters America, which will make Examiner.com content available to Reuters subscribers. Currently, Reuters has approximately 1 billion readers a day and a multitude of subscribers internationally, thus, such a move is likely to increase the readership of Examiner.com, while validating the Websites’ unique model of providing diverse local content to a massive audience.
As part of Thomson Reuters (NYSE: TRI) expansion into more general news service in addition to its financial reports, the company has launched Reuters America, it’s most direct challenge to the Associated Press position as a supplier of articles and photos to newspapers. But rather than just rely on its own large global editorial staff, Reuters America will aggregate content from several, prominent new partners across entertainment, sports and hyperlocal news. Reuters America also has its first client is one that has had its share of differences with the AP, The Tribune Company. Reuters America represents the company’s first major foray into aggregation. Among the six initial partners who will be feeding their posts through Reuters America are Sharon Waxman’s The Wrap , SB Nation and ‐¢ Examiner.com .
