I Cthulhu. Or What's A Tentacle-Faced Thing Like Me Doing In A Sunken City Like This (Latitude 47° 9' S, Longitude 126° 43' W)? Cthulhu, they call me. Great Cthulhu. Nobody can pronounce it right. Are you writing this down? Every word? Good. Where shall I start -- mm? Very well, then. My father was consumed by my mother as soon as he had fertilized her and she, in her turn, was eaten by myself at my birth. Don't look so shocked, Whateley. Which reminds me, did they remember to feed the shoggoth? I spent my first few thousand years in those swamps. So passed my youth. And then one day -- I believe it was a Tuesday -- I discovered that there was more to life than food.
It meant that he did not intend to dine that visit, and that we could talk. Now that is a stupid question, even for you Whateley. We? R'lyeh. Um. Your Amazing Brain. Authorama - Public Domain Books. The Lost Principles of Design. In the instant age that design has evolved into recently many of us often stray away from the basics. If you had a professor in college who taught you the fundamentals of design these may be engrained into your head. For the self-taught, you may have a book on your desk with these very principles. However, the more and more people that flood the internet for design content need to learn the basics before trying to make a stellar gradient in Photoshop. While this is cool and amazing right now, there will come a point where this style is strayed away from and a new style is made. In history, this lesson has repeated itself with movements like the Bauhaus and Swiss Modernism and will soon come label our current trends as part of history.
The fundamentals of design will however, never change. They are the glue that holds the industry together and we need to learn & take them to heart. Balance Arranging parts to achieve a state of equilibrium between forces of influences. Contrast Proportion. Oh those crazy grammar goofs… | clayzmama says……
The Reality of Repressed Memories. In 1990, a landmark case went to trial in Redwood City, California. The defendant, George Franklin, Sr., 51 years old, stood trial for a murder that had occurred more than 20 years earlier. The victim, 8-year-old (Susan Kay Nason, was murdered on September 22, 1969). Franklin's daughter, Eileen, only 8 years old herself at the time of the murder, provided the major evidence against her father. What was unusual about the case is that Eileen's memory of witnessing the murder had been repressed for more than 20 years. Eileen's memory did not come back all at once.
Eileen's memory report was believed by her therapist, by several members of her family, and by the San Mateo County district attorney's office, which chose to prosecute her father. Eileen's detailed and confident memory impressed a number of people. On the other hand, the clinical anecdotes and the loose theory used to explain them remain unconvincing to some psychotherapists and to many laboratory researchers. - StumbleUpon. WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD? Plato: For the greater good. Karl Marx: It was a historical inevitability. Machiavelli: So that its subjects will view it with admiration, as a chicken which has the daring and courage to boldly cross the road, but also with fear, for whom among them has the strength to contend with such a paragon of avian virtue? In such a manner is the princely chicken's dominion maintained. Hippocrates: Because of an excess of light pink gooey stuff in its pancreas. Jacques Derrida: Any number of contending discourses may be discovered within the act of the chicken crossing the road, and each interpretation is equally valid as the authorial intent can never be discerned, because structuralism is DEAD, DAMMIT, DEAD! Thomas de Torquemada: Give me ten minutes with the chicken and I'll find out.

This may come to you as a surprise or a silly joke, but it’s nothing but the truth. The popular CGI cartoon Shrek actually existed! Rather, his ogre-ific head was modeled after a real person; he was called Maurice Tillet and he was actually a very intelligent person: a poet and writer who could speak 14 languages, and sure enough he did use plenty of colorful idioms (;)). Tillet was born in 1903, and as a teenager he manifested a rare disease called acromegaly, which caused his bones to grow uncontrollably. As result his body was disfigured, and he turned into what people back then referred to as “freak show”; do you think that put him down? Think again! Maurice Tillet reached the title of world champion of the American Wrestling Association in the 1st of August 1944, after defeating Steve “Crusher” Casey.
Tillet fought till the end – which arrived in 1954 when he was 51 years old – and he died with a heart attack. Saturday, December 2, 2006 Back when I was still getting daily “are you okay?” And “do you need anything” phone calls from my mother each morning after my little rumble with the stairs, she told me one more she’d just made German pancakes for breakfast. “Oh, you remember them, don’t you? I made them once in a while when you were growing up.” Well no, I don’t. The recipe, by the way, mom says she got from one of those inserts that came with her at least 30-year old blender, completely crushing my romanticized notions of this being something her parents over brought from the “old country.” German Pancakes From my mom’s old blender cookbook Yield 2 9-inch pancakes.
Jimmy Sieczka, the 20 Reasons I Dislike the Philippines guy | Zerothreetwo. Last modified: April 18, 2012 Remember the “20 Reasons I Dislike _____. (the Philippines)” video? Many of you who saw the video will be familiar with the face of Jimmy Sieczka, the sarcastic curse barrage American with the aviators. Although we did not particularly enjoy the video (Obviously), we felt that he had every right to voice out whatever it was he wanted. In light of the media storm and negative press he received, (A Cebu City councillor was even compelled to declare Jimmy Sieczka “persona non grata”) we decided to seek out Jimmy and hear what he had to say. 032: Why did you make the video?
JS: Just to clarify I didn’t conceptualise the original idea nor was I the creator of the video. 032: There seems to be mixed reactions to the video. JS: I would say that most people agree with at least some of the points brought up in the video. Take for example the section where I’m talking about the street children. For those that “vehemently hate” me. The controversial topics. Why? Website.
