Invisible Cities Emerge in the Most Unexpected Places

The Invisible Cities is a series of oil paintings and pastels that features bustling towns emerging from the whirling dust of a tornado or the puffs of smoke from a train. The compositions, filled with soft yellow, brown, and golden hues, feature the surreal imagination of the Polish artist coming to life on the canvas. Kołpanowicz provides his viewers with a foundation for imagination, where airplanes, and trains, and bird's wings become a means for escape into a world of dreams. The hazy colors distort reality just enough so that reality and fiction become a blur of exciting adventure, and as viewers gaze at the peaceful scenes they will begin to wonder, if they could just reach that city in the sky, where their next journey might take them. Although Mucha himself was more diverse than that SExpand I guess a similar thing happens with pop art, in that that often gets reduced to Andy Worhol (and Worhol again to his brightly coloured screenprints) True. His work on the Slav epic series of paintings is amazing, it's the kind of colour and scale that knocks the wind out of you when you see it. PREZA CABULOSA #5. Hendricks tried to say no, but her daughter used a phrase on her mom that she must have heard a few times herself… If you can’t share, we might have to take it away… Well, that did the trick and Hendricks her little girl finish one of the characters she’d started in the new sketchbook. This turned out to be an accidental stroke of genius. Hendricks now regularly draws faces for her daughter to finish. Read more about this project or buy some of the mother-daughter duo’s prints.
