RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie actually declined to show off the his company's tablet today on the Web 2.0 Summit stage , but in private he was more than kind, treating us to a nice long glimpse at the BlackBerry PlayBook in a quaint hotel hallway. We only got to heft the one-pound slate for a few seconds, but we got the basic feel of the device in the hand -- warm to the touch, solid if a little plasticky, with a responsive glass touchscreen up top and a bottom that's mildly rubberized. Balsillie didn't bother to locate the " module cavity " for us, but he did try to explain where those 5300mAh lithium ion cells might hide -- we suspect the CEO exaggerated only slightly when he told us "it's all battery and glass inside."

Je suis pas un gros client d’applications sur téléphone, hormis les traditionnels twitter , shazam , etc, et pour moi Allociné fait partie des indispensables. Du coup c’est avec un certain plaisir que je peux désormais accéder à tout Allociné sur mon téléphone !

Hot Rumor: RIM's iPad Challenger May Surface Next Week
The rumor mill has just been spun up to maximum revs by the : The venerable publication thinks RIM's ready to reveal its BlackBerry-based tablet PC (destined to rival the iPad) as soon as next week. Here's what the WSJ suggests: RIM's been feverishly working on the device, and has polished it up to the point it's ready for a public showing. An ideal venue would be the three-day BlackBerry Developer Conference in San Francisco next week, so that's where it'll get its first outing, according to sources inside the Canadian-based company. The timing makes sense too, given that the furore around the iPad has begun to dip slightly (even though it's not seen a wide-scale global release yet), no big-name contender other than the Samsung Galaxy Tab has surfaced yet and the arrival of a huge number of competitors is just around the corner.
Only a few days after the BlackBerry Torch’s August 12 launch, Amazon has slashed the phone’s price in half from $199.99 with a two-year contract, down to $99.99. The news comes after a report from Goldman Sachs today that called the Torch’s launch “underwhelming”, according to the Street Insider . Goldman’s report noted that most of the stores it called didn’t sell out of the Torch and that most purchases were made by current BlackBerry customers.

That spells trouble for R.I.M. Corporations and consumers used to be happy with handsets that served up e-mail reliably, promptly and securely. R.I.M.’s products do this very well. Now, though, Android and Apple handsets adequately handle e-mail, while also doing much more.
En ce moment les services français commencent à sortir leurs applications pour les BlackBerry avec notamment SNCF Direct (et bientôt TER Mobile) pour les transports mais aussi Deezer et Beezik pour la musique. Bien sur, il manque une application primordiale pour nos smartphones qui est AlloCiné , la référence en matière de cinéma. Soyez rassuré, d’ici peu elle sera disponible, car une sortie en septembre est prévue.
