Google launching a Chrome OS tablet on Verizon, goes on sale November 26
The title pretty much says it all on this one, folks. Yes, our source tells us that Google is building a Chrome OS tablet. It's real, and it's being built by HTC. No surprise there, since HTC churned out the Nexus One for Google. Yes, they plan to offer it in conjunction with Verizon -- which probably doesn't come as a shock to anybody at this point. The two recently tag-teamed that Net Neutrality proposal and they've had plenty of discussions in the past about cooperating in some capacity.25 brilliant examples of Facebook brand pages | Econsultancy
I love to see brands generating innovative, engaging and creative advertising online. Yet, I’m always surprised at how little effort companies put into Facebook from a creative perspective, especially given the noise they make about using the platform and the levels of engagement often put in. Arguably, Facebook does have a static format that needs changing, but it’s not that difficult – or expensive – to come up with some great landing page manipulation through Facebook Markup Language (FBML)...Google TV plan is causing jitters in Hollywood - latimes.com
Google revolutionized the way people access information. Now it wants to transform how people get entertainment. The latest numbers from eMarketer project that advertisers will spend nearly $1.7 billion in the U.S. on social networking sites in 2010. Worldwide, spending will hit $3.3 billion according to the report. The numbers represent a significant bump up from estimates published by the research firm at the end of last year, when it projected $1.3 billion would be spent on the space in the U.S. Not surprisingly, eMarketer sees about half of that money (in the U.S.) going to Facebook, with MySpace continuing to see a smaller share of the pie.
Advertisers to Spend $1.7 Billion on Social Networks in 2010
Pity those poor civil servants in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. MPs may wail that the usual three-month summer recess has been cut to two – such an outrage – but in Cockspur Street there is justifiable woe. Not only may half of them be made redundant under plans put forward by the culture secretary, Jeremy Hunt , but they are working harder than ever to find ways of cutting media regulation. The new boss wants to scrap barriers to cross-media ownership in the regions by the end of the school holidays. It is the start of a big bang for media similar to the one that revolutionised the City in the 1980s – the bang that helped get us into the mess that led to budgets being halved.
