Science and Tech Ads - a set on Flickr
This is a random assortment of science ads collected from various science and tech magazines of the 50s and 60s. We're particularly struck by how they have utilized the modernist aesthetic in a manner particularly appropriate for its subject matter.enormouschampion
A summer in New York can’t be complete without trip down to Coney Island . Among the mermaids and Wonder Wheel, one of our favorite things to look at is the hand painted signage that decorates the area.Flyer Design Goodness
Not quite sure what it is about good signage that gives you that warm comfortable feeling about a shop based solely on their sign. More than just the face of a business, a sign is the firm handshake of an auto shop or the familiar smile of a mom and pop restaurant. Signs these days seem to be losing that quality true sign feel.Design Archives

An Introduction to the History of Graphic Design
The History of Visual Communication
This website, which contains the material of the course VA312, taught at Sabanci University , Istanbul, Turkey; attempts to walk you through the long and diverse history of a particular aspect of human endeavour: The translation of ideas, stories and concepts that are largely textual and/or word based into a visual format, i.e. visual communication. Wikipedia defines visual communication as: The primary tool by which man has visualised ideas is through the usage of writing and, by extension, type: Writing/type is the visual manifestation of the spoken word. And words are what we communicate with. Thus it is no overstatement when we say that type is the essence of visual communication and by extension of visual communication design. Type, where it is present, is simply the single most important element that you put on a page, since it inherently carries the essence of communication and communication is what our subject of study as graphic/multimedia designers is all about.Alexander patiently creates these amazing book-objects by taking old books, cutting out pages one after another, leaving only the illustrations [...]

It’s that time again to refresh your Kult House page . They have updated yet again with some notable work stretching across different media and like always it’s all very sharp. Kate Bosworth lends her beauty to this allegorical performance in the Vanessa Bruno short film, LØV.
