Attracting more than 100 of the most talented developers, designers and business students from across the Berkeley campus, Jeremy Fiance, Michael Medved, Anish Patel, Erica Lee, Miriam Neubauer and Katie Vaughn from the Kairos Society Northern California team were able to bring Startup Weekend to school for the first time.
The weekend kicked off on Friday night with close to 60 entrepreneurs stepping up and pitching their idea to the crowd. From there the audience voted and teams were formed around the top 12 ideas. These teams worked over the weekend to refine their concepts before presenting their ventures to a panel of eight venture capitalist on Sunday night, which included Niko Bonatsos from General Catalyst Partners, Andreas Stavropoulous from DFJ, Fadi Bashara from Blockbox.vc, Harris Brody from Blue Fog Capital, Jordan Angelos from Accel Partners, Pete Shannon from Firelake Capital, Rishi Taparia from Matrix Partners and CJ Reim from Highland Capital Partners.
