MasterCard starts piloting QkR mobile payment app
MasterCard isn’t standing by while rivals such as Visa and American Express move forward with their own wallet apps. The credit card company is rolling out the first trial of its QkR mobile application , a mobile payment app that allows people to interact and initiate payments via QR codes, NFC tags and other technologies. MasterCard is working with Australian cinema chain Hoyts and Commonwealth Bank on the first pilot of its QkR app (pronounced quicker), which I first wrote about in September .Card.io , the toolkit for mobile app developers which lets users pay for items by holding their credit card up to the phone’s camera, is today launching a consumer-facing app.

Digital Payments Innovator Jumio Raises $25.5 Million
Kicking off the new year with a fresh wad of cash: according to an SEC filing , mobile and online payments startup Jumio has raised $25.5 million in funding on top of the $6.5 million it raised from Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin – and others – back in March 2011.
