Dawn raids on four Tyneside properties linked to a gang were carried out, with drugs, cash and vehicles all seized. Two people were held on suspicion of money laundering as part of the probe, aimed at cracking down on Mr Bigs living on the proceeds of illegal activity. The operation - codenamed Deliver - was launched in the East End of Newcastle, with further action expected in the days to come.

Detective Chief Insp George Duff, said: “We’re committed to taking action against the people who create the most problems and cause the most concerns in our neighbourhoods. “This activity marks the start of Operation Deliver, which is dedicated to disrupting and dismantling organised crime groups and taking away any profit they may have made from their criminal activity.” ChronicleLive - News - Today's Chronicle - Police pounce on visitor for taking photos of city.
