The laptop freezes, however, on power-management actions, such as brightness change and sleep/wake-up. A particularly annoying problem is that the machine freezes automatically after a GUI login if I had started gnome-power-manager previously. I have to remove the gnome-power-manager settings directory in order to get back in. If I boot with acpi=off parameter to the kernel things work fine, but then again no ACPI functionality is available. w520_datasheet.

Category:W520. Hardware W520-4284-49G Resources Reviews Linux Installation Power Adapter The W520 comes with a special 170W AC adapter (P/N 0A36227) that is currently not shipped with any other Thinkpad.

Category:W520

The 170W adapter plug has two extra notches that makes it physically impossible to use the 170W adapter with older equipment such as the W510 and some docking stations, although older chargers are physically forward compatible (while they may not provide enough power) with ports that support the 170W adapter. Most newer (20V) Thinkpad AC adapters have a compatible plug with the W520, but not all of them will work due to power constraints.

The 135W adapter is sufficient to run the W520 without throttling. Subcategories This category has only the following subcategory. This is used for calibrating the colours of the LCD display. The way calibration works is that you close the LID and the display remains on with a special test screen, and the sensor in the palm rest does its thing. If you do not have a colour meter, Lenovo provides pre-calibrated profiles for most ThinkPads. Please see Colour profile.
