AMES - Free teaching resource - Understanding good health. 01Sep2012 The Understanding good health teaching resource was developed through a partnership between NSW Adult Migrant English Service (AMES) and Sydney and South Western Sydney Local Health Networks. Funding for the resource was provided by NSW AMES and through the Bankstown Community Grants program. Metro Migrant Resource Centre assisted in identifying relevant issues and content of those issues. This resource is designed for use with young people and women with low literacy levels. It is designed to integrate awareness of health issues into English as a second language programs. The activities here are based on the approach widely adopted for preventative health programs. The health issues covered are: Depression Stress Anxiety Eating disorders Sexual health Heart disease Teeth Smoking Alcohol Content includes tasks framing advice and treatment information and which provide details of further online and other resources.
