Mid century/ranch style Archives - The Loved Home. I love ranch-style homes (not to be confused with actual ranches, which are also nice). 10 years ago I would have never thought my favorite style would be a ranch. But, I love them. I love the living all on one level (especially since we are in the throws of having little kids who find our downstairs “creepy” and refuse to use that entire half portion of our fairly small house without me glued to their hip). There is something uniquely cozy about the low vaulted ceilings & large-pane windows. I used to dream of a craftsman with a big front porch, now my dreams are all mid-century ranch goodness. RecipeBoy. What We Did in Mutual. Our class presidency (we only have one for all of our YW) decided to have a back to school activity where we have two teams compete in the following: We will have blank maps printed out (one for each team) and the two teams will have to compete to see who gets all fifty states labeled correctly first. We will have bowls of cereal for each YW. Each YW will be blindfolded and have to eat it that way. This represents how sleepy they are in the morning when school starts. OBSTACLE COURSE (Relay) We will have two obstacle courses set up with chairs that the YW have to navigate around (one from each team at a time). We will have two notebooks, pencil sharpeners and pencils sitting on a table. If we need a tie breaker we will do the shoe game. We will have notebooks and pens for each player on the winning team.

Before the games, we will have a speaker talk about the importance of education. Egg Relay Game Party Supplies. Crappy Pictures - Illustrated with Crappy Pictures. Recipes. Gap Cowl Scarf Pattern. My pallet wood walkway in the garden has kept me busy today. I’m starting to think that bloggers just shouldn’t have gardens. Actually, let me rephrase that… maybe we should just blog about them more so they’re kept up. Back in the day I had a real green thumb. I use to even work in a greenhouse. A few houses ago, my yard was lush with blooming flowers and the most amazing vegetable garden ever. I just couldn’t walk by my beloved pallet boards one more time in this condition… so I started here. I wasn’t worried though. Each board was completely remove and replaced. And then I got on a roll. I pulled out my beloved saddle blanket for my knees, (from my riding days) and started getting serious with those ferocious weeds.

That’s a light beam in the photo. I really loved how this plant just took over and ran with it. Sigh… I just love me some rustic wood! And no post would be complete without a bit of junk, right? It’s back! The little pallet walkway has been a trooper. A little photography trick? Tatertots and Jello. Build a Reclaimed-Wood Headboard, Queen Size. Huzzah! Now check your email to confirm your subscription and get your free book. Homemade fruit snacks are at the heart of the story I’m about to share. Well, I don’t really hate being that mom. But I do hate being the mom that tries to hide her look of fear and disgust as an innocent (and very kind) parent or child offers my child an artificial, store-bought, and full of fake dyes fruit snack. Yeah, I don’t really like being that mom. I try not to go too crazy… after all, I know my kids gets real food 99% of the time… so the rare non homemade fruit snack or handful of gold fish crackers won’t kill her. Fear not. Not too long ago, Heather (aka: The Mommypotamus) posted a gem of a recipe for easy sour gummies. Why are these homemade fruit snacks healthy? I’m glad you asked! I have to admit that I was laughing watching this one, because our "true colors" came out. Cason sarcastically teasing me about my indecisiveness, and me trying to justify it. LOL. Also, here are some links and some more information about a lot of the FAQ that we address in the video, for you to reference as well: Our Favorite Paint Colors: * The blue/gray in the kitchen is from Sherwin Williams. . * The girls' bathroom is Dockside Blue mixed with a bunch of white paint. * The rest of the house is Autumn Haze, from Glidden. * Trim and doors in our home are the straight out of the can ultra white.

Favorite place to buy modern, beautiful quilts: Gourmet Mom on-the-Go. Birthday Cinnamon Rolls – Using The Pioneer Woman Ree Drumond’s Recipe. I’ve had had so many requests for my cinnamon roll recipe that I had to let you all know that it’s not mine, it’s the work of Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman. And it is insanely delicious. I started making cinnamon rolls using this recipe a few years ago, and they have become a holiday staple. Ree’s recipe makes a TON of cinnamon rolls, which works well if you want to give them out or if you want to lock the doors and see how many cinnamon rolls one person can consume. The good news is that they freeze very well, which makes this giant recipe not such a bad idea. The recipe over on Pioneer Woman’s site walks you through this beautifully, step by step, photo by photo. My rolling it out technique is not quite what Ree’s is. Cinnamon rolls contain butter.

Whoops, a hole in the dough. Hole still there. This pan went into the freezer, to freeze the cinnamon rolls individually on the pan and once frozen to be wrapped up and put in a freezer bag. Happy Birthday! Eighteen25. Free and Easy DIY Furniture Plans to Save You Money. Brown paper packages.

Lil Blue Boo - Part 5. I’m scared to see the movie Wolf, because I’m worried it might trigger PTSD. I read the recent NYT article for For the Love of Money and I had flashbacks of an earlier life. It would take years to tell the whole story. It’s all a huge circus under a tent called “investment banking.” But I can condense some of it into a quick short story…with a few pages from my journal at the time: Imagine you are in a conference room with a deal team making a $50 million dollar pitch based off of a spreadsheet that has been together in haste. It’s a small amount compared to other deals you’ve worked on, but you are completely unqualified to be doing this.Very rarely is an idea pitched to a client over the phone, but this happens to be one of those rare occurrences.

You don’t have any real world experience in finance, you don’t even balance your checkbook. That’s a true story. Ucreate. Snickers Cupcakes. Yesterday, on my personal Facebook page, I asked my friends, on a whim, what their favorite candy is. I loved reading all of the answers. Some were very surprising, and most surprising of all was that everyone said something different. I’m a huge candy person…shocking, right? I mean, it’s a little obvious that I have a sweet tooth.

Or two. Today, I have a treat that is a combination of candy and cake…two of my favorite things in the world. The candy in question is Snickers. *If you do have a peanut allergy, I think these would be really delicious with other candies, as well. These are Snickers cupcakes and they are dangerously good. For the filling, you’ll need Snickers, of course…lots and lots of Snickers. That’s the ticket. …and mix. Once the cupcakes are cooled, it’s time to fill them. Really, you won’t be needing again, so have a snack!

Fill each cupcake with a portion of the Snickers caramel filling (about a tablespoon each, which will be five or six candies in each cupcake). Confessions of a Cookbook Queen — Easy Craft Ideas, Crafting blog, DIY.
