You Too Can Add Extra Sparkle: Where I Find My Bling!

Crystalled by Jane creates shatteringly fabulous bling shoes, but sometimes I add more, I add beading, trimmings, extra colours etc to add sparkle and connect my entire outfit from earrings to bracelets. Now put your guilty pleasure for Strictly Come Dancing to one side and instead think of all the fabulous beading of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Three decades which I have an unhealthy obsession with: the sparkle of sequins, the shimmer of glass, the shine of metallic! With such choice the creative possibilities really are endless. By emulating details from these eras, you can sew simple embellishments around arms, hems or necklines.

Either way, using tonal or matching colours of stones applied to your dresses will give a luxurious feel. With Love xx. My Obsession With Sparkle. We all love anything sparkly and shiny…oh come on it’s true.

My Obsession With Sparkle

Be it a sparkly jumper or Christmas card, a huge engagement ring or even shiny cleaned windows at home. Anything which is reflective and bounces back light, I feel gives us all joy. We adore the sunshine bouncing of the water on the beach, a crystal glass in a bar, or a freshly polished shoe. We humans are like magpies. Attracted to sparkle. If you think, sparkle also denotes your place in society. When I was creating my style and look as La Voix, I knew I wanted to resemble opulence, glamour and style.

When I did Britain’s got talent, and I got through to the live semi finals, it’s then that ITV take over and make your costumes for your act. Since them I’ve realized the importance of the costume to my act. James Maciver who makes my dresses now, knows that making a dress from just sequin fabric isn’t enough sparkle for me. Wardrobe Malfunctions & Dress Disasters. Well…as you know it’s my constant ambition to look glamorous, flawless and immaculately put together when I’m on stage.

Wardrobe Malfunctions & Dress Disasters

The blended make-up, the large diamond jewelry, the coiffed hair, the encrusted stoned crystal shoes, the Barbra Streisand manicured nails and the ultimate dress. Right down to a fine perfume and freshly powdered t-zone. Its a lot of work, but I know when I feel this way I can give my best on stage to my audience up for a glamorous night. However, this “high-bar” of glamour and perfection doesn’t always work out, and sometimes there’s no time to fix it, I’m flung in-front of an audience with only a quickly positioned safety pin holding together my modesty, or an opened back dress, one earring, or the wrong dress completely. My first real bespoke dress I had made, which was jaw droopingly beautiful, was when I performed on ITV’s Britain’s got talent finals. In the camera rehearsal I was shown how I would rise up through the floor at the top of a illuminated staircase.
