Defense.gif (329×225) ENVISION : Step into the sensory box. Levitating Cube Sculpture Is Part Science, Part Awesome. John Fehr has an idea for a simple yet interesting project that uses magnetic fields to levitate small objects, and he’s looking to Kickstarter for some help. Using a pair of magnets set on a plastic stand, Fehr demonstrates on video at the Kickstarter site how a little metal cube hangs in the air as the power of science achieves something which would likely scare primitive people into thinking it’s magic. He has several of the devices on display at the site to show it off as a potential centerpiece for the discriminating household. Kickstarter is a site dedicated to microfunding projects by ambitious and inventive people. Those looking for contributions can make on-site presentations through video and pictures to show what they’re working on, explain what they want to achieve, and outline what kind of perks supporters could receive. To date, Lehr has already received $6,153 in contributions, which is over $3,000 more than his stated goal.
