Inquiry & Information Fluency Lessons

On this site, you'll find three mini-lessons I have constructed for my final project in FRIT 7234. Each lesson is accompanied by AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner, as my area of concentration is school library media, along with a curated list of lesson resources. Inquiry learning and information literacy have been the guiding influences throughout the creation of these lessons, which can be viewed using the horizontal navigation bar at the top of this page or by clicking the links below. All three lessons fall under the English and composition content umbrella and are meant to be taught in collaboration with a classroom English teacher. Lessons. Rubric. Galileo Educational Network. While this appeals to common sense (think of the efficiency of a automobile assembly line), the problem with this approach is the removal of any context to the learning, making deep understanding of the content less likely. Perkins calls this approach elementitis, where learning is structured exclusively around disconnected skills and fragmented pieces of information. 2. Students learn about a particular topic.
