Biden-voting counties equal 70% of America’s economy. What does this mean for the nation’s political-economic divide?

Notwithstanding President-elect Joe Biden’s solid popular vote victory, last week’s election failed to deliver the kind of transformative reorientation of the nation’s political-economic map that Democrats (and some Republicans) had hoped for. The data confirms that the election sharpened the striking geographic divide between red and blue America, instead of dispelling it.

Most notably, the stark economic rift that Brookings Metro documented after Donald Trump’s shocking 2016 victory has grown even wider. In 2016, we wrote that the 2,584 counties that Trump won generated just 36% of the country’s economic output, whereas the 472 counties Hillary Clinton carried equated to almost two-thirds of the nation’s aggregate economy. A similar analysis for last week’s election shows these trends continuing, albeit with a different political outcome. Michio Kaku: Feedback loops are creating consciousness. Filled with immunocompromised patients susceptible to infectious materials, they are also home to a high number of healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs). In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about one in 31 hospital patients has at least one HAI on any given day. Additionally, per the 2015 HAI Hospital Prevalence survey, there was an estimated 687,000 HAIs in U.S. acute care hospitals in 2015 and 72,000 HAI-associated deaths. In an attempt to lower infection rates, a number of solutions have surfaced that eliminate harmful pathogens, such as those involving ultraviolet (UV) light methods. If UV light systems fail to eliminate pathogens, why are they so widely used today? 1. 2. 3. Look on the Bright Side of Whole Room Disinfection Tags: UV light. Physicists hunt for room-temperature superconductors that could revolutionize the world's energy system

On a small scale, if your phone or laptop feels warm, that’s because some of the energy powering the device is being transformed into unwanted heat. On a larger scale, electric grids, such as high power lines, lose over 5% of their energy in the process of transmission. In an electric power industry that generated more than US$400 billion in 2018, that’s a tremendous amount of wasted money. Globally, the computer systems of Google, Microsoft, Facebook and others require enormous amounts of energy to power massive cloud servers and data centers. Even more energy, to power water and air cooling systems, is required to offset the heat generated by these computers. Where does this wasted heat come from? Superconductors are materials that address this problem by allowing energy to flow efficiently through them without generating unwanted heat. Understanding the mechanism Simply put, superconductivity occurs when two electrons bind together at low temperatures. Sam Harris Life Advice Will Change Your Future (MUST WATCH)
