How to create a Firefox SOCKS proxy with a Putty SSH tunnel (introduction) | devdaily.com

It drives me crazy when I have to work at client sites and they have a web proxy like Websense set up that keeps me from doing my job. Don't get me wrong -- a tool like Websense is probably necessary for a lot of reasons, especially in larger organizations -- but on the flip side, a lot of technical blogs that I use as resources end up being blocked by Websense, and that "Blocked by Websense" message drives me nuts. At my last job my own business webmail server was blocked by Websense, so I went to my employer and said "Listen, I really need to be able to read my other business email while I work here. http://www.devdaily.com/unix/edu/putty-ssh-tunnel-firefox-socks-proxy/1-putty-ssh-tunnel-introduction.shtml

Tweaks: Visual Effects-Menu style-Normal vs. Flat - MSFN Forum

Could anyone tell me which registry setting stands behind this visual tweak so I can set it myself post-install and check/see if I like the change from normal (as I have it set now) or whether I can spot any difference at all?
If you have the selection on 1 then Windows Setup will install the OS on any free partition that is available. If you remove this line or if you put AutoPartition=0 then setup will ask you on which partition you wish to install Windows onto and advises you what to do if your partition already contains an OS. If this setting is on "0" it will inform Setup that you are installing from CD, put a value of 1 if you use only diskettes to boot. UnattendedInstall = "Yes"

Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Create Bootable CD - HelpWithWindows.com

Slipstreaming a Service Pack, is the process to integrate the Service Pack into the installation so that with every new installation the Operating System and Service Pack are installed at the same time. Slipstreaming is usually done on network shares on corporate systems, but it also makes sense for the home user or small business user to do. Microsoft added the ability to Slipstream a Service Pack to Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It not only has the advantage that when you (re)install your OS, you don't have to apply the Service Pack later, also if you update any Windows component later, you'll be sure that you get the correct installation files if Windows needs any. http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/Slipstreaming_Windows_XP_Service_Pack_3.html

Secure Sites - Internet Explorer 7

Changes have been made to Internet Explorer to make it easier for users to see that they are on a secure site, and (just as importantly) that the secure site is the one that they were expecting to visit. Internet Explorer has always displayed a lock icon on the status bar when we visit a secure site , but the problem has been that, firstly, the icon was not very prominent and was easily missed and, also, it was not easy for an inexperienced user to tell if the certificate being used to trigger the lock matched the site that they were expecting to visit. Anybody can can set up a 'secure' web site by applying for the necessary certifications, and bad guys often try to masquerade as a well known secure site (known as phishing). Internet Explorer 7 adds new visual cues and features that make it easy for a user to see whether they are on a secure site, and to check that the certificate matches the site they are visiting.
