They run on either Kawasaki or Honda motorcycle engines and co-opt vintage bumper car bodies into the most awesome form of mini-car we've seen in too long. There are seven of these little monsters floating around California , and they're all the creation of one man, Tom Wright, a builder in the outskirts of San Diego who figured the leftovers of the Long Beach Pike amusement park needed a more dignified end than the trash heap. They were originally powered by two cylinder Harley Davidson Motorcycle engines but they rattled like heck because of the two cylinder vibration and Tom replaces them with four cylinder Honda or Kawasaki 750's and a couple have been measured as capable of 160 MPH, which is terrifyingly fast in machines with such a short wheelbase.

By the way, they are almost indestructible in accidents! The Art of Negative Space. on the Behance Network. Sign Up Log In The Art of Negative Space. An Ingenious Clock Gently Motivates Serial Procrastinators | Co.Design. We would've gotten to this post earlier but we just kinda' put it off. So... Sorry, sidetracked again! But we're here now! And we've got a great little product to tell you about: a clock designed to help procrastinators -- well okay, anyone really, but especially procrastinators -- organize their lives. Should, Coulda, Woulda, by Swedish design student Maria Bergström, is a blank-face wall clock that comes with a set of colorful leather-covered magnets.

The photos do a good job of showing how this thing works. Whoops, looks like he fluffed it on a couple of them: And another... We think this is an awesome idea, not least of all because you can totally ignore it if you're not feeling motivated. Present and record at the same time! Optical zoom lens, simple to use interface, compactness, loveliness. Designer: René Woo-Ram Lee. Pick Punch. Rolling Bridge « Heatherwick Studio.

London, UK The studio was commissioned to design a pedestrian bridge to span an inlet of the Grand Union Canal at Paddington Basin, London, and provide an access route for workers and residents. Crucially, the bridge needed to open to allow access for the boat moored in the inlet. The aim was to make the movement the extraordinary aspect of the bridge. A common approach to designing opening bridges is to have a single rigid element that fractures and lifts out of the way. Rolling Bridge opens by slowly and smoothly curling until it transforms from a conventional, straight bridge, into a circular sculpture which sits on the bank of the canal. The structure opens using a series of hydraulic rams integrated into the balustrade.

The whole structure was constructed at Littlehampton Welding on the Sussex coast and then floated up the Grand Union Canal, before being lifted into position and attached to the hydraulic system which powers its movement. Televisions have a strange mixed roll in the modern household. Some say they have replaced the traditional hearth, around which we used to gather for warmth. Others suggest that TV sets are distracting and detract from interaction. The latter group may just love this ‘invisible’ television design. Michael Friebe has gone beyond a mere concept, however, with a vision for how it would work – technology combining LCD and TOLED displays, rendering the view surface effectively clear when not in use and fully colored once activated. In a way, if it works, it is the inevitable next step for this ubiquitous invention – and perhaps for computers and other electronic devices as well.
