PHOTO OF THE DAY.........House Beautiful

If you haven't seen the new issue of House Beautiful magazine, it's worth picking up. This dresser is sure to inspire someone out there to get some painter's tape and spray paint and go to town! I love how fresh the color green looks. This graphic quality of this dresser made me think of my Blue Plate Special pillow which was a project from The Big Ass Book of Home Decor. This pillow is made with canvas, contact paper and Krylon Fusion spray paint. Take an 8" diameter plate and lightly trace IN PENCIL interlocking circles in a grid on a 20"x20" square of creme or white fabric as shown. Cut out (in contact paper) the shapes you want to remain white.

Peel and stick them to your fabric Spray paint your fabric and when dry, remove the contact paper. Stitch your pillow and stuff! May Point of View Reveal- Pillows! Each month I am completely surprised by how varied everyone's take on the theme is.

May Point of View Reveal- Pillows!

This month is no exception. But I also have to say that even though they are all completely different- I LOVE them all! Looking for more deets on your favorite pillow? Follow the links here: 1. I'm loving this pillow. And, I'm all prepared to teach you how to make one for yourself. First: Supplies (for a 12" pillow)- background fabric: 1/2 yard (white in my case); ribbon: 1- 9 yard spool per color (I used 2 colors of 1/4" Offray ribbon), sewing implements, pillow form.

Cut out the front of the pillow. The lines are hard to see in this picture. Now to sew down the ribbon. For the back I did something a little different. Instead of the regular envelope closure, I divided the size of the front (13") by two, then added 1" for the overlap and 2" for the hem- for a total of 9 1/2" X 13" and cut two of them. You could use either the front or the back of this pillow. Xoxo, V and Co how to: shag pillow. *no animals or plants were hurt in the making of this project.

V and Co how to: shag pillow

*one really stupid person did get hurt in the making of this project, but she would like to mention that even though the needle penetrated...no swear words passed her lips. it's was a modern day miracle. i love how this pillow turned out. i made it in green for two reasons: 1. it's still kind of cold here, and still kind of brown...will be for a little bit longer so i wanted some GREEN and springy looking happiness in my home. 2. it's the only color of jersey i had on hand, and living in the middle of nowhere doesn't let me just jump in the car and go to a store that i can find jersey fabric at (which btw this fabric was found at jo-anns but i would suggest amazon if you can't find what you are looking for, that's where i get a lot of mine when i can't find stuff) now lets get started: cutting: *cut from jersey fabric 19 strips at 1 1/2" each.

*from each of the 19 strips cut 15: 4" length rectangles. The end. More Threads and Thrills...Rolled Rosette Pillow. *** 9/09/2012 I just received a comment on this post that I can't decide if they were joking or not.

More Threads and Thrills...Rolled Rosette Pillow

It was kind of mean, but either way, they asked that I let you know that this project isn't quick. It took me several hours to complete one pillow so if you need to have this done in an hour here you go...it's not going to happen, sorry. But then too, I did mention that in this post. I removed the comment, it makes me sad, hopefully your pillow will make you happy! *** I've been pining for pillows lately, today I finally got around to making a few. In my efforts to come up with a few examples for my Valentine exchange, I found myself at my local Goodwill. The cashier wrapped all of the glass items I purchased in white t-shirts!

What? I got home, unwrapped everything, and sat staring at a pile of white t-shirts. Then the light bulb started glowing. Two problems though, one the pillow was $70 and two, I don't crochet. Thank you Goodwill lady! And ta-da...
