Shark Week (2012. The WEIRD and the wrong: Toys your parents had that might just keep you awake at Night. If you listen to your parents, then the 50s, 60s and 70s were some kind of innocent golden age where things were just so much simpler and less complicated then they are today. Let me tell you something! Don’t you believe them for one minute! Those of you who experienced those times can remember just how weird and plain wrong some of those toys were. We sure loved them though even if they seemed to encourage some seriously anti-social behaviour.

Who didn’t dream of cooking monster parts on a griddle with molten plastic? These were toys that cried out to be misused and abused while at the same time sending some of the worst messages possible. This was a wonderful “Creepy Crawlers” expansion. Oh yeah, the monster parts were also pretty cool ! Can you say “Thermo-nuclear destruction“? I just love the text on the box “He Growls, Turns and Runs Away.” Now that’s about the best excuse I ever heard for killing an animal. Serves the coward right. Check out Dad’s expression.
