Social media identity project

Facebook Twitter

Social Media - Jennifer Voyles Portfolio. We live in a day and age where technology and social media is utilized both in and outside of the classroom, and what a tremendous thing that is! We can share photos, thoughts, comments, and important information all with the simple click of a button. But is social media always a positive thing? Does it benefit all users, unconditionally? Or, are there possible downsides? For our social media project, I chose to research different aspects of social media and happened across an article about awareness of social media cyberbullying and how educators can teach their students to be aware of the signs and effects of potential cyberbullying threats.

I chose this topic because I have personally known individuals who have been heckled and harassed via the internet, and would love to know how to better help them in these situations. I'm not saying social media is a bad thing by any means. 1. Future Goal: Have a Pinterest account that my students can access at home or in the classroom. 2. 3. Social Media - Grace Sport Portfolio. Final Update: I have expanded my use of Twitter and Pinterest by following more accounts concerning teaching and technology.

I have continued to retweet and repin relevent ideas and articles about teaching with technology. Using Pinterest and Twitter, I was able to find many relevant ideas and strategies and then organize them into one place using Pinterest, or share them with my Twitter followers. I have not found Facebook to be very useful when it comes to teaching with technology. I would probably choose to just not even use Facebook for that purpose anymore. It was difficult to find things about teaching with technology to share, and it would be difficult to target the posts to only people who would be interested in that subject, such as teachers.

Throughout this project, I learned that using social media in teaching is much more widespread than I thought it was. Since then, it has become a social medium through which one can express thoughts or conversations between users with 140 characters or less. The article that I read was very interesting because it talked about how the state of Indiana was trying to keep certain people off of social media sites. The people that were trying to be kept off were sexual predators that have been registered and caught on other sites before. This law could not be passed because the first amendment right of freedom of expression and speech protects them to stay on social media. Facebook still tries to make it so that sexual predators can not communicate with the younger people that they harass. This is still a work in progress but it is very interesting. Social Media - Home. I love gymnastics and as a coach I am always looking for new resources. I found the resource by googling the keywords gymnastics and Pinterest. This is a prime example of how social media can help me improve myself as a coach, by opening my eyes to resources I never would have thought of to help me.

This page, itself, is littered with images of gymnastics, providing the opportunity to make what coaches call a pose book. They take pictures of various poses and pasted them into a scrapbook like resource which can be updated and reused every year. The gymnastics then look at the pose book to find skills and poses that they want to try, if they are successful then the pose is incorporated into their routine. I never used to think of Pinterest as a usable resource for anything besides wasting time on the internet or coming up with crafty things. This page means a lot and it was an eye-opener on how much I have overlooked the ease at which these resources can be found.
