District 9 - bande annonce 2. Bande Annonce 1. Critique US 1. District 9 STUDIO: TriStar Pictures Trailer , Official Site SOUNDTRACK: Not yet available The Charge You are not welcome here. Opening Statement District 9 is being hailed as a visionary achievement in modern science fiction, and it’s certainly easy to see why. Facts of the Case The film takes place in the present day. The man placed in charge of this process is Wikus (Sharlto Copley), a bumbling pencil-pusher who got the job due to the fact that he is married to a well-connected woman.

The Evidence Over the course of cinema’s history, we’ve seen plenty of films speculating on what it would be like if human beings encountered living beings from another planet. The film is frenzied and chaotic from start to finish, mercilessly throwing the viewer into a hellish nightmare and assaulting their senses with a potent combination of tenacious outrage and stomach-churning violence. District 9 certainly assumes the worst about humanity, perhaps rightfully so. Alas, things change in the final act. Qq points rapides. Quelques points négatifs. Ok, before you read anything PLEASE READ THIS PART: I enjoyed “District 9″ very much. I even went to see it in theaters twice. It’s a very solid movie that was fun, had some of the best visual effects I’ve seen in a long time and flowed very well. But since all of us (at least the majority of us) seem to agree on those points, what’s the point of regurgitating it at length?

Can’t really have a discussion on something you all agree about. So instead, I want to take a few minutes and talk about the things in district 9 that I didn’t care for and get your thoughts on them. WARNING… IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE YET, THIS POST WILL CONTAIN A COUPLE OF SPOILERS… SO READ WITH CAUTION. 1) On the first screening, and especially on the second screening, I felt more and more (during a good chunk of the film in the middle) like I was watching a “re-imagining” of “The Fly”. 2) The movie tells us that 1.8 MILLION “prawns” live in district 9. 4) So let me get this straight.

So there you have it. Résultats au box office US. The story, adapted from Alive in Joburg, a 2005 short film directed by Blomkamp and produced by Sharlto Copley and Simon Hansen, depicts humanity, xenophobia, and social segregation. The title and premise of District 9 were inspired by events in District Six, Cape Town during the apartheid era. The film was produced for $30 million and shot on location in Chiawelo, Soweto, presenting fictional interviews, news footage, and video from surveillance cameras in a mock-documentary format. A viral marketing campaign began in 2008, at the San Diego Comic-Con, while the theatrical trailer appeared in July 2009.

Released by TriStar Pictures, the film opened to critical acclaim on August 14, 2009, in North America and earned $37 million in its opening weekend. Many saw the film as a sleeper hit for achieving success and popularity during its theatrical run, despite a modest budget and relatively unknown cast. Une suite ? Rumour is already a buzz with Neill Blomkamp’s success that a sequel to District 9 is a complete possibility. But in a recent Audio Interview Neill says he would like to explore a prequel instead. MovieWeb offers: Blomkamp stated that there wasn’t an official story for a new film yet, but indicated that the studio was certainly interested in a sequel.

The director also talked about making the new film a prequel versus a sequel While District 9 is getting a lot of good reviews and Blomkamp has proven his teeth to officially be cut, I really hope they don’t do another film of the same kind. John already hit on this, but I wanted to share one thought. Though his films were diverse in content and themes, after Sixth Sense you could always predict a Twist at some point. Anyways, as John already pointed out, it would be a good idea for Blomkamp to move on with another film that isn’t District 9. But putting ALL that aside, and regardless of the film or director. Suite, pas suite ? Let me explain the title of this post a little bit. Apparently the studio and director Neill Blomkamp have been talking about the possibility of doing a sequel to “District 9″. And flat out I think this is a TERRIBLE idea.

For now anyway. Here’s the background for those of you who may be new to The Movie Blog. I was VERY critical of the news a few years back that Blomkamp was tapped to direct the Halo movie. Blomkamp then obviously went on to do exactly what I thought he should do… a smaller film first… and the result was the $30 million budgeted District 9. So if I think the film was one of the best of the summer… why would I be so against the idea of Blomkamp returning for a District 9 sequel? Look at Christopher Nolan for a moment. Personally, I think Halo falling through was the best thing in the world that could have happened for Blomkamp. Un marketing étonnant.

By Alex Billington July 30, 2008 Late last year we announced that Peter Jackson's protege Neill Blomkamp had finally been given his first feature film, a mysterious sci-fi movie called District 9. Since then, we've heard nothing about this project, not even any casting or shooting details. At Comic-Con, I noticed giant "For Humans Only" banners and signs located throughout the convention center and placed at the entrance to every last bathroom, but I brushed them off as something related to a video game or TV show and nothing I needed to be concerned with.

However, my sci-fi side of me was itching to know more, because it seemed like a strategic bit of viral marketing and alas, that's how I discovered that all of that was part of a much bigger viral marketing campaign for Blomkamp's District 9. Those banners were just the tip of the iceberg! All of the banners and signs, including the ones placed at every restroom, all point to D-9.com.
